View Full Version : WWE vs TNA's Rosters
Was talking about this in the hardcore thread and thought it deserved a thread of its own. The following are roster counts for both TNA and WWE according to their roster pages, broken down into brand and categories.
WWE RAW
Wrestlers - 25
Divas - 9
Misc (Announcers, Managers, Etc) - 5
Total - 39
WWE SmackDown!
Wrestlers - 23
Divas - 7
Misc (Announcers, Managers, Etc) - 6
Total - 36
NXT
Total (Rookies Only) - 8
WWE Totals
Wrestlers - 56
Divas - 16
Misc (Announcers, Managers, Etc) - 11
Grand Total - 83
TNA Totals
Wrestlers - 42
Knock Outs - 13
Misc (Announcers, Managers, Etc) - 9
Grand Total - 64
Note: Suicide was not counted, as he's usually played by someone else within the company.
I think it's interesting to note that everything is within a few talents on each of the categories aside from wrestlers, which is still only off by 14.
I think this would make an interesting discussion in its own right, so what do you think? Does either company need to trim some fat? Does TNA need to split the company into two brands? Does TNA need more TV time?
Discuss.

I was kidding about splitting TNA up Xero. I wouldn't want them to do that because then you'd have the same shit that's going down on Raw/SD with all the backstage political bs.

They can't even put out a good episode of Impact, there would be no reason for another show.
TNA has a lot of wrestlers who seem to only do house shows these days, and the sporadic job here and there on tv.
I think the biggest factor here is that WWE has 6 hours of weekly, national programming while TNA only has 2. When you take that into account TNA roster's seems huge by comparison, and I think it's one of the reasons there's a problem with overbooking segments.

I'm aware, just thought the whole roster count discussion is interesting.

Oh, I bet you made this thread once you seen my post in the Anti-trust WWE thread :D. Was going to make one myself.
TNA needs to boot a lot of people, WWE needs to pick up 3 or 4 per brand. Its bad when Teddy announces there will be a tourny, and they can only find 4 people worthy enough to even compete in it (Could have easily made it 8 people, have the next round this week, then do the PPV match).
TNA is crazy fat, but this is why they get paid so little :D.

In that case, TNA should trim the fat, and by that I mean: Hogan, Hall, Waltman, Nash, Flair, Russo, and Abyss.

Willie Urbina, Tomko, Raven, Rhino, ODB, Magnus, Jimmy Hart, Kiyoshi, Homicide, Dr. Stevie, Hector Guerrero, Amazing Red, Hamada, Sarita, and SoCal Val. How many times have these people been used total since moving to Mondays? That is like a person getting so fat the 16 year old girl working at McDonalds refuses to take her order.

Split TNA up and we MIGHT get 6 matches a week from them. Instead of the usual 4

Nah. They'd spend the extra time on recaps. It'd be four matches in twice the time.

Oh yeah, I forgot TNA logic, I was thinking of real world.

Oh, and they'd spend an extra 20 minutes on promos telling us how they give us what we want.

Getting back on topic, the thing about the WWE roster is there are no suprises. You can basically guess who will be wrestling each week, against who too. Now that is not a bad thing, but once in awhile they will do the mystery partner and you know who that is most likly going to be too.
Pick up a few people more known (Not 50 year old known) people, give them a contract like the legend contract and have them appear once every 2 months or so. RVD would have been PERFECT for that.
Can I know who were all the "misc" in Raw and SD?
Can I know who were all the "misc" in Raw and SD?
"Announcers, Managers, Etc"
So Byron Saxton and Abe Washington not counted? Also, Josh Mathews for SD or NXT? What about Savannah?
If they're on the SD, NXT or RAW roster, that's where they're counted. If they're not on either page, they're not.

64 people for 2 hours of programming a week is far from justifiable.
You can even break it down by brand. RAW and SD, at only ~40 people, have about 2 and a half hours of TV time if you split Superstars up. TNA has two for more than 20 more people.
I don't know. I think Reaction will fall more under a recap show like how the last few years of Live Wire was used.
If there are first-run matches in it I'd count it. Otherwise, barely.

I get what you're saying, but hear me out:
TNA is never wrong.

I suppose you are right. Almost always the main players are the only ones featured there, and hence the neglected get neglected.

Totally in agreement here...

TNA can have a brand split, then we can campaign for Noid to book for the other brand. Eventually either WWE will have competition or TNA will fuck it up, in any case that's enough experience for Noid to go to WWE.
We can dream right?

Yeah, but you're obviously counting WWE A.M. RAW, which, let's face it, is basically a 1-hour RAW ReBound show...maybe you'd call it comparing apples to oranges, I dunno, I was just sayin'.

Actually, I'm not.
RAW - 2 hours
SD - 2 hours
NXT - 1 hour
Superstars - 1 hour

TNA definitely needs to trim the fat. I love Scott Hall but he's not adding anything to the roster, nor is X-pac, Hogan or Flair.
