View Full Version : Good Thing RVD's Ego Isn't Too Big...

RVD On AJ Styles: “AJ’s good, I’m used to having everybody’s best match my whole career. I take everybody’s move’s the best anybody’s ever taken them, I make everybody look better than they’ve ever looked before. AJ’s got a lot to work with. I expect, and there’s a really good chance, that this is going to be the best match of his career and hopefully a match that has everybody taking about TNA.”

AJ'S Good? Now I have been a back & forth fan of RVD's for years... Of course in the early days with ECW, he was a monster and an innovator... But to remain this F'in cocky still when he's pretty much down into his routine to stay healthy... AND to say AJ's just GOOD? Man... I think I need a hit or two of what he's smoking...

Of course that's if the above words said were actually what he said and not twisted around... Thoughts...

Don't know what you're getting at, but AJ isn't on the same level as Van Dam in terms of skill.

I think calling AJ "good" is fair. He's not THAT great in the ring. He's improved by leaps and bounds, but I wouldn't consider him great.

Maybe he'd be more grounded if people stopped fellating him.

Maybe.

Not really; I like RVD just fine, but I've always thought Lynn was the better wrestler of the two.

I love RVD but it's pretty clear AJ is better then RVD. However history will not agree with me on that.

Also Why is anyone disargeeing with Nowhere Man? Jerry Lynn is also better then RVD he just is a black hole of charsima, and is forgotten about sadly.

I have not seen RVD in ECW. From what I HAVE seen of both RVD and AJ, I must conclude that

AJ Styles > RVD

Then again, from what I have seen, a whole lot of people > RVD.

Didn't think about that... Did about the Mary Jane though...

Xero, do you really think AJ is just good? I am just talking wrestling ability here though... I should've been more specific... Cause until Christian came along to help AJ, he was the WORST on the mic in TNA... He has improved, but I really think he has taken a step back with his mic skills since Ric... Which is strange, cause usually when Flair helps someone, they improve dramatically... i.e anyone in Evolution...

But wrestling wise, I really enjoy AJ...When he had that last feud with Angle, that wasn't just all Kurt... Those were solid matches on both sides... Maybe that would happen with RVD too, i dunno...

I think it's more for the self-promotion instead.

But either way, if you're looking for consistency in the IWC, then you have very poor pattern recognition skills.

RVD vs. Jerry Lynn from Hardcore Heaven 99 is one of the greatest matches I have ever witnessed. He's also right in stating that he makes others look incredible in his matches against them, and that he takes moves like none other. Nobody takes a piledriver or a DDT like Rob Van Dam, and I dare anyone to challenge that.

That being said, I am, and have always been, a huge mark for AJ Styles. While his matches against Christopher Daniels back in 04-05 are also some of the best matches I've ever witnessed, they don't compare to RVD/Lynn. Rob Van Dam is masterful inside the ring.

RVD is a much better, whiter version of Shelton Benjamin.

I agree he was used poorly for most of his time in WWE, but his stuff in ECW and a lot of what he's done so far in TNA is pretty fucking awesome.

I enjoy RVD in the ring, and probably always will, but he is past his prime.... mnd you, he isn't working with the greats that he has in the past in WWE (Benoit, Guerrero, a young Jeff Hardy, Jericho, etc.)..... and AJ has nothing but potential, but the IWC has been hearing that since 2002.....

Currently, I think RVD is ahead of Styles in most aspects, but AJ is constantly improving, where as RVD is losing bit-by-bit

I am not going to shit on RVD too much. He was just never a favorite of mine. Maybe the problem is I was not an ECW guy, I was always a WWE guy, so I did not see that much of him then, but I bought his DVD and watched it with a couple friends and just didn't have the same reaction to him that everyone else had.
