I've just gotten the dreaded "Blue Screen Of Death" on my PC tonight.

It came out of nowhere and my PC was working fine earlier in the day but for some unknown reason, I started getting the blue screen and then my PC reset itself and now nothing is appearing on my monitor when I turn my PC on. Before that, I got the "Blue Screen Of Death" four times along with the reseting thing after it. :-\

I've spoken to my friends about it and some are saying that it's because I have Vista and one of my friends said he had the same problems when he had Vista but now he has Windows 7 and everything has been ok since.

So it is actually because of some flaw Vista has or are my friends talking out their asses and it's actually something totally unrelated that's causing the "Blue Screen Of Death"?

You install anything recently?

Are there any other problems with your computer recently?

It could also be an update that's conflicting with anything.
Restart in safe mode and go back to a restore point in time prior to your BSOD.

Your friends are likely full of shit. Blue screens happen because something is wrong, not just because you're using a certain OS.

Re-read what you posted, and it seems your PC is just not starting up at all now? Odds are, you are having some sort of hardware failure.

I totally misinterpreted (didn't read, damn blue font) that part about nothing showing up on the monitor.

Yes, something hardware related is probably fucked.

Yeah it's probably hardware.

And your friends know nothing about "computers" if they're saying Vista is the reason for the blue screen.

Unless you're using Windows ME :shifty:

Actually, using Windows ME is the very definition of something being "wrong".

Well thank you to all of you, but I've been reading up on it all and it is indeed looking like it is some problem with the hardware afterall. Just like some of you said.

So it looks like I'll have to spend my not so hard earned cash and go and get a professional to try to fix my PC.

That's if it can be fixed. :(

Well, what actually happens when you turn on your computer?

Do the hard drives start spinning, do lights turn on on the motherboard, are there beeps?

Yeah the hard drives start spinning and the lights on the motherboard go on but there is no beep and my monitor just goes into "Sleep Mode".

I went and spoke to a professional today about my problem and he wasn't really helpful. All he said was "Well, it could be anything". :|

Have you tried booting from a CD rather than your hard drive?

That may at least allow you to boot up and give you access to try and find the problem or do a system restore.
