View Full Version : Book it: Jericho's Retirement

How much longer does the guy have with us? Turning 40 this November. Shawn retired at 45. Of course, Jericho's never suffered any serious injuries throughout his career and his only hiatus was to pursue his acting and VH1 Commenter jobs.
So, realistically, how long is going to stay with the business? How will he retire when the time comes? Perhaps a final face-run? A JBLesque ending? Or perhaps a re-tread of the Shawn Michaels retirement finale?

I think Jericho will quietly retire like Austin and Rock did.

Exactly. He walked away from the buisness for a while on his own, what's stopping him from hanging it up and not being a Ric Flair.
I see Jericho being around for another 4 - 6 years before he starts contemplating retirement from the buisness.

I think an aged Jericho will be great in a manager/evil boss type role in a decade or two.

when he retires the world will weap at the loss of one of the greatest preformers the wrestling world has ever known so I truthfully don't think it's possible to give him a truly proper send off

With the way Jericho regards his past it makes me wonder if he'll ever turn face again. I was thinking about it the other day, I don't think Jericho will be face for a very very long time. It's just I'm getting a little bored with his character, I mean I still love the character at the same time but I feel he's being very under-utilized with the Unified Tag Team Titles. While it's great that he can work both Raw and Smackdown, and I believe he's probably one of the only wrestlers on the roster that can pull it off correctly, I just feel that they're just using him poorly lately.

I LOVE This idea... But I also love the idea of him giving the old school Walls of Jericho to someone like Swagger or Miz & retire as a champion... That way he holds a record of going out that way... If that hasn't been done already...
Wait, has anyone retired with the WWE or World title in WWE before? I could def see Jericho doing that as a badass send off...

I feel you on this one too, but isn't he helping the newer generation out but putting them over and taking his runs when they hand them to him? He'll get another because he can do it all...

Not many people retire as a winner as of late. It's always a loss. I call it the "Hulkimania/Andre" gimmick.
I mean ever since Andre pass the torch to Hulk at Wrestlemania 3 it seems that whenever a wrestler is retiring they end up losing to put someone over.
I mean are there any wrestlers who have retired with a win as their last match?

He challenges the "best wrestler in the world" for a60-minute Iron Man Match where the loser is forced to retire.....
Chris Jericho versus Kurt Angle (mystery opponent hyped up for months, kept extremely secret, not even Ryan Clark can steal the news from any other site) at Wrestlemania 29....

Goldberg is the only one that springs to mind.

Wrestlemania 30, Jericho is in every match on the card, he win every belts, end Taker's streak and after that he gives a 3 hours show with Fozzy !!!

I'd like to see Jericho have one last run with the title losing it to Taker at Mania then retiring in a Triple Threat Match along with Triple H and CM Punk or Daniel Bryan. It'd be cool to elevate Punk or Bryan to that level by retiring two legends. Jericho'd have to be a face for it to work best...

Whatever happens, I just hope he sticks around to do color commentary after he's done in the ring. He always manages to steal the show when he's on commentary. In my dream world, they get rid of Lawler and put Jericho in his spot, but that'll probably never happen.

In Japan, Jericho should wrestle with his best friend, Ricky Fuji, either as a team or as opponents.
In Calgary, Jericho teams with Lance Storm for The Thrillseekers Reunion, just Shawn and Marty did for The Rockers Reunion.

I guess?
Jericho loses a Retirement Match at WrestleMania 35 and starts to whine and cry in the ring afterwards. HBK's music hits and out walks a grey haired, older Shawn Michaels. He gets into the ring and tells Jericho it's time to go. Jericho and HBK hug and then leave together while the fans chant their names.

Unlike Triple H I feel that Jericho is more about putting over newer talent so I wouldn't be suprised if a face Jericho was retired by The Miz can't help but think that's partly why they paired em.
