Q: You talked about a location for the WWE Hall of Fame in your WrestleMania diary. Where would you put it? I think it's gotta be where WWE people tend to go anyways, not a pilgrimage site like Cooperstown. My votes are either Daytona Beach, near a NASCAR track somewhere in Georgia/Tennessee or the Wisconsin Dells.

SG: I'd like to see Vince buy the Silverdome and turn it into the WWE Hall of Fame. We already have a nostalgic tie-in: WrestleMania III (in Detroit) had the best WrestleMania ever, the biggest wrestling crowd ever, the biggest match ever (Hulk versus Andre), and the greatest match ever up to that point (Savage versus Steamboat). Throw in the local economy boost and the Silverdome's price (dirt-cheap) and everyone wins. There will never be a bigger wrestling match than Hulk-Andre. It's sacred ground. Think I'm kidding? Two other things happened in 1987 at the Silverdome: Basketball Jesus (Larry Bird) punched Basketball Satan (Bill Laimbeer), and the Pope conducted a Catholic Mass.

What do you think? Good idea? I personally think it makes a lot of sense. I might even make the trip.

Great idea... except for the fact that it's in Michigan... a dying state that no one will want to visit from September to March due to the vicious winter. For the amount of money he'd end up paying purchasing, renovating, and maintaining that stadium, he'd do better working with Bloomberg in NYC and having it it New York somewhere. More people coming through, more revenue, and in the long run the Garden has more history than the Silverdome.
He could have a space in Time Square for the HOF and do a PPV at Madison Square every year. It could be based specifically around the Hall of Fame inductees just like football always has the HOF game (even though it's pre- season).
That way the HOF can shine on it's own and not be overshadowed by Wrestlemania. It could be the 2nd or 3rd biggest PPV after Mania and Summerslam.

Sort of surprised they never thought of the idea of using the restaurant the WWE once had in Times Square as their Hall of Fame once the restaurant business didn't work out as they planed.
According to Wikipedia after the restaurant (The World) closed down in 2003, nobody used the building for another 2 years until a Hard Rock Cafe was placed there.

They need to have a physical location. For fuck's sake, even NASCAR (http://www.nascarhall.com/) has one, in Charlotte, NC.

Why couldn't they put the HOF in Connecticut?

MSG is getting remodeled over the next 4 years prior to WM XXX, seems to me if Vince wanted a physical HOF presence, now would be the time to pay off the MSG folks to put one there in with the remodel so that it would be open in time for WM XXX (10 years after they restarted the HOF yearly).
The Silverdome sounds like a good idea, and even though the cost upfront is dirt cheap, the maintenance on such a huge facility would be ridiculous for a HOF that realistically wouldn't draw that many people each year unless they held events there or something as well.

The Hall of Fame definitely needs a location. Right now, it doesn't mean much until there is an actual physical Hall of Fame. Although, I don't know if there'd be enough interest in the Hall of Fame to warrant it being in such a big stadium. It should be in a much smaller venue.
