Hi all first time poster on here.

I was watching wwe vintage on skysports the other day,and it was a special on the wcw cruiserweight title.

It got me thinking to how good that diversion was between 96 to 99 (it lost credibilty when madusa won it in my eyes)

we had chris jericho, eddie Guerrero, dean malenko, justin lieger,Juventud Guerrera, ultimo dragon,Psychosis and the late great chris benoit, all in and around the diversion at that time, all great performers some went on to greatness others not so much.

so my question is do you think we well ever see a bunch of wrestlers of the quality of these guys at the same time again.

Because as much as enjoyed the nwo storylines, these were the guys that made me tune in week in week out to the wcw.

I think WWE is thinking about bringing the cruiserweight title back because they mentioned on Smackdown that Hornswoggle was the last cruiserweight champion and they never mentioned it before.

i don't know they might have killed the belt with that statment hohnswoggle last cruiserweight champ an x-pac last light heavyweight champ, that tells me vince does not care about those belts. an will let tna control that div.

To be honest X-Pac was mad good when he held that title. X-Pac was never a bad wrestler he just got stuck with the DX gimmick to the point where people became sick of him and he didnt have good mic skills, but in the ring, X-Pac always delivered. Today he sucks I think, but back then it was nothing to be ashamed of.

I think they intended to push someone by viciously destroying Hornswoggle for the belt but then decided to put the belt on hold because they didnt have enough time to give to it since they got ECW (then) and NXT now and it was just too much.

If I was doing it, I would have Vickie bring back the Cruiserweight title and have Chavo face Hornswoggle for it and instead of Chavo sucking, he comes out with a new gimmick, maybe with a shaved head and absolutely kills Hornswoggle (give Hornswoggle a few months off) and becomes this vicious cruiserweight champ on Smackdown. Smackdown needs another title anyway for all the small dudes!

i would love to see it come back with people like bourne and bryan but vince likes the hosses.

True but lately he has been push the lighter indy guys a lot more. I mean Punk has been world champ several times and is a threat to the title all the time. That would have been impossible years ago. I think Vince realized that most people no longer want to see big guys in the spotlight all the time and for business he had to become more flexible.

If WWE brought the title back you can be sure we'd never see CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Rey Mysterio or Miz anywhere near the World/Heavyweight Titles again.

Rey was World Champ when the title was still around.
So no way...

I see the Title returning once the next season of NXT is over, with WWE inplementing a "heat" like program to fill in the void..... It'll be like superstars and will allow for guys like Chavo, Santino, Ryder, Primo, etc. to get more tv time and allow for more NXT callups to be featured on Superstars

I don't think Crhis Benoit was in the Cruiserweight division anyway.

I forgot crusierweights ever existed until I saw this thread. Good job WWE for making me forget. :y:

I don't want to see it back, because they will just fuck up again. I would rather just see smaller guys given the pushes they deserve, like they are doing with Bryan and Bourne right now.

If there's one thing WWE can do, it's make you forget about wrestling. :D

Also no you won't see that roster or a roster like that ever again.

I think great wrestlers are a rather scarce resource today.

also not a fan of the music, but it is pretty cool to see the amount of talent that held this belt. It is also sad at some of the garbage that held this belt aka oklahoma, jackie, madusa....

I am not a PAC fan but he did always sell the bumps fucking awesome...

I LOVE the cruiserweight division, but as stated many times above & before... Vince squashes these belts and goes for the big dudes...

WTF?! I don't remember Lenny Lane ever holding that belt! I also don't remember him doing anything before or after the whole gay angle thing with Lodi.

Can one more person please tell me that Chris Benoit was a Cruiserweight at one point? I don't feel enough people have yet.

Also, I remember going to a Nitro where Lenny Lane defended the Cruiserweight title against Shaggy 2 Dope.
