What are some instances when the number one merch mover in the WWE has been a heel? Seeing as John Cena and Rey Mysterio are pretty much faces for life due to the merchandise they sell...
Austin in 2001 was probably still selling shit loads of merch, despite being a heel.
Just curious...

The Undertaker has probably always done well too, even as a heel.

The nWo and DX immediately came to mind.

the same first came up for me as well.....
Pretty sure HHH has always been a top merch shifter, even in the Evolution days.
Edge's 'Rated R' stuff looks popular as well, not sure if either have been 'the main merch guy' though.

I'm not sure if a heel has ever been the top merchandise mover, aside from the nWo in WCW, which was by far.
But in all other instances of high selling heels, I can think of a face that was more than likely selling more.
DX was probably selling a lot of merch in early 1998, but nowhere near Austin.
Later in the year, The Rock was also doing very well but Austin was still doing better.
In 2001, heel Austin was still selling a boatload of merchandise but at that point The Rock was probably a bigger merch mover, as a face at the time.
Same goes for Edge, Orton and a few others in recent years. They obviously sell very well but nowhere compared to Cena, and even Rey and Undertaker. And DX of course.

DX wasn't around until late 1997, and early on they didn't have any merchandise.
Austin was huge in 1997 too.
Don't know, but I would think Austin still had them beat. Or Undertaker and Bret too, just considering they had more merchandise available

When I first came into this thread, my answer was going to be HBK Vs Hogan at Summerslam.....
