So tired of the SD engine. LoWM wasn't the way to go, but this seems to be a great change of pace until a whole new engine comes into place for the sim games.

I'm not. They tried to work out a deal months back with Goldberg that would have been like Nash/HBK's legends deal (and others)... and would have possibly led to a match or two. But talks broke down over $$$$$.

But there is a Create-a-Wrestler thing so I assume all of his traits are in there.

Just found a couple of screen shots which either suggest you can customise attires for anyone in the game or there are pretty weird alt costumes. Here's Orton in a wierd outfit and Kane with molten hands.

Second video has the character select screen and the arena select screen, as well as a match. Really selling me on the game. Also shows what I thought initially, that pins are actually cut scenes and the game is KO/damage based. Unless there are also pins.

It would make a lot of sense if the gameplay favors knockouts since one of the achievements unlocks after 25 TKOs.

I was going to ask if pins are break-able but after watching those videos, it looks like pins don't occur until the match is already over so it wouldn't matter if it can or can't be broken.

In the HHH vs Cena video, at 3:26, the command menu says "gegner pinnen" which is German for "pin the opponent". So pinning is in and it's mapped to the left trigger.

We also see weapons are in the game because there is an "obeject search" (objekt suchen) command on the move list.

This game looks like a blast. Love the roster and amount of costumes I'm seeing.

I guess in that department my only complaint would be that I'd rather see a few more guys like Diesel and Goldberg, or whoever, over McIntyre or R Truth who just feel like a waste/filler.
But obviously it's harder to secure legends and they are trying for some generational balance.
As it is, the roster is much more satisfying than any other I've ever seen in a WWE game (when it comes to legends and current stars alike)

WWE's nostalgia market is undertapped. They do a lot with it, but still not nearly what they could.
I think they underestimate the novelty/interest that people have in "old school" WWF. Particularly the people who don't have interest (or won't admit to having interest) in the current product.
Retro is cool. Especially in wrestling.

I think perhaps WWE is a little weary about pushing the past too hard over the present, because of how they think it may stack up.
They do try to keep an eye on the current and future as to not put themselves up shit creek without future generations.

Yeah, but the actual videogame is probably not expected to do terribly huge numbers. SvR was only doing a little over a million copies sold each year. Probably more to do with having the same game over and over than wrestling generally being less popular. Hopefully they actually put more effort into these games and go on an alternating 2 year dev cycle.

But it's also nice to see them switching the game style up too. It was to the point where there was just no difference in the games from year to year.

It will be interesting to see what they do with a sequel to this game, if it comes.

Shattered Dreams in this game would be amazing. Set him up on one side, kick him in the balls, flies over to the opposite turnbuckle and you dropkick his balls there.

This doesn't look that bad, now that I've seen those videos. I didn't watch all of them throughout, though.

Are tables in the game? If they have the physics like they did in SvR011 where if you do a move and the table is there then you go through it. The tables would make an awesome addition. So would ladders.

Why do fighting games always have as few strength based characters as possible? There's always tons of speedy types or technical/combo types but only ever 2 or 3 characters based on strength.

I'm not asking for strength characters to make up the majority of the roster of this game or any other fighting game but it would be nice if there was at least a fair number compared to the other types.

Because it takes legit skill to be good with big men types. You know how many shitty Zangiefs there are out there as opposed to good ones. Compare that to Ryus or Akumas or any other character with more attack options. It's even worse in other games.

BTW, you should try out Tekken 6. Got a feeling you'd be pretty beastly with the Kings, Dragunov and Marduk.

I got out of the announcement that it was just a random DLC, not a new one. And Truth is announced as DLC.

He actually signed a new one with TNA in January 2011 but requested to be released from it once the WWE contacted him about being a potential surprise entrant for the Rumble.

I don't think Nash has a Legends contract with the WWE like Hogan and a few others have which explains why the WWE can use classic Hogan even when Hogan is with another company.

It's ok. Takes a while to get use to but I don't like the way you taunt before you do a finisher, as if the other player will just stand there waiting.

I was talking about player 2 not standing around, not the character.
Going to do Warriors finisher, he'll taunt for 3 or so seconds before trying to grab Rey. Player 2 and even the AI wont just stand there. They'll either attack during the taunt or get out the way.

I could understand having a finisher taunt to activate your finisher like No Mercy but it seems you do an autotaunt everytime you attempt a finisher.

Right, get you now. When you hit a finisher there'll be a taunt before the grab. I thought you meant it was part of the finisher animation.

I have just finished playing the demo again and I've figured out you can press LB + RB to do the finisher taunt whenever you like as long as you have your finisher bar full and it activates it like No Mercy after all. Then you just press LB + RB again when you want to do the finisher.

Also they have more Avatar stuff up but I can't get to see it. There is a Million Dollar Belt, entrance pyro, Austin outfit and Piper outfit. Not sure what else.

Did you check from Game Marketplace or Avatar Marketplace?

They have Paul Bearers urn, Macho Man's outfit with the glasses (crazy hair not included), Jake Roberts snake in a bag, and a few other shirts/costumes.

I really like it. Feels like a game I couldn't play in really long bursts after the "newness" wears off, but it's really enjoyable.

Definitely miles ahead of the stale SvR gameplay. I could even see them adapting this engine to a sim. Obviously with better graphics and slower, less exaggerated gameplay. Or at the very least take some of the concepts, like the way moves transition and flow.

That's honestly the greatest thing about that. While I'm still getting a hang of the controls, the transitions and flow of a match makes it really fun to look at.

And the slow motion doesn't hurt the game nearly as much as I thought. I'd still like to see an option to turn it off, but it isn't really a flow killer like I had expected.

I had the same problem. It actually wants you to press the left stick away from the ring and press left trigger.

Can't you download it from Live? I don't own an Xbox so I'm not really sure. But it was just available at the Playstation Store Online for PS3. I assume Xbox has a similar thingy majigger.

Yeah, you can download it from live. I have a gold account. I didn't get a chance to play the demo yet because I was downloading then I played Black Ops and the download stopped. so, I have to download it again in order for it to fully download and then I can give it a whack.

I just played the demo.

I actually like it. The slow motion is going to piss me off after a while, but it didn't seem that bad playing it. I actually had fun playing this game.

Wasn't everyone talking about on here that when you do a finisher, or when your health reaches zero, you auto lose and when you do a finisher you automatically win and get a pin? That's not true.....I performed my finisher on Rey, he kicked out, gave me the 619 and won by pinfall. His heath was low all the way and mine wasn't.

The game runs so much smoother and faster than the Smackdown games. Like during Warrior's entrance, I didn't watch Rey's, he was running down the aisle and hopped up onto the ring without any 1 second loading times or anything. The animation was a lot smoother as well.

I really hope that the actual game next week has BREAKING TABLES in it.

Also, to unlock alternate costumes, you have to do a 10 match championship with that character which is a bit of a pain. Especially since I have to be Hogan to get Hollywood.

Doesn't save though so you have to do it on boot-up. Options also don't save weirdly. Hope that's patched soon.

I just bought the game and just played as Randy Savage against Ricky Steamboat. I lost cause I couldn't keep Steamboat down long enough for a pin.

Game takes awhile to get used to. It's fast paced, which is good, and it's different, which is why I think I like it right now.

I did an atomic drop and then hit like a 10 hit punch combo while Steamboat was in mid air. It was fun.

So far its fun. Only one gripe.

The create a star thing won't load ANYTHING. I can't see my guy as i'm making him, what he looks like, what he wears. Its like its trying to load but nothing shows up.

I can't really figure out the reversal system yet, which I think its a good thing.

I've been doing Fantasy Warfare. I got through the first like two matches, but I'm struggling as Mr. Perfect against The Miz. THANK FUCKING GOD! THQ actually made a wrestling game that I'm struggling with. I must have tried about 5 times now and each time I come close to beating Miz, he ends up Skull Crushing Finale'ing me. It's actually a little hard to beat. :y:

There's a mode, like the Road to Wrestlemania in the Smackdown games, where you pick a guy and wrestle 10 matches in a row (yes. and you can't save it apparently) in order to fight the boss (Undertaker, Triple H/Michaels, somebody else I can't think of) at the end. If that counts as a career mode. It's that or Fantasy Warfare mode...

I also didn't think that I'd like the KO feature, but I actually do because it makes the game harder. If you're doing a fatal four way it's tough as a bitch to win because the CPU can KO you with a finisher out of nowhere, or KO someone else and the match is over. I found somewhat of a challenge in a wrestling game! Hallelujah!

Okay, yeah, this game is fucked on the PS3. Don't know about the 360, but this games loves to Cache data when yo ustart playing it. It takes a good five minutes it seems to do it. The problem is, it needs to do it nearly every time you play. Basically, if you play or watch anything between the now and the last time you played, it'll cache the data. Having to wait 5 minutes everytime I want to play it is pretty fucking awful. I'll probably send it back to gamefly soon.

I just got All Stars today. A day early here in the UK. :cool:

I purposely avoided any news about the game and the roster and arenas and so on, like I do with every WWE game and my first impression of it was "What the hell? This is insanely difficult".

I'm sure it was just because of the control change, as I'm extremely used to the SVR controls, but the more I played it, the more I felt my matches beginning to "flow". I wasn't just standing there getting my ass handed to me like what happened during my first match. I'm actually doing moves and combos and so on now.

Though I have to say, maybe it's just me but the AI in the game is extremely good. It actually puts up a fight and challenges you, unlike the AI in the SVR series.

So far, I think the game looks promising and I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun with it in the future.

Next time I play it, I'll be trying out CAW and the other match types and modes, as so far, all I've had are singles matches.

Sadly, this was the easiest match there was. I played as Bret and pretty much destroyed Edge with little effort from him. Kind of sad really. Everyone else I've fought until now has put up a good fight.

Just finished playing the game there.

It got me a bit frustrated when I was facing Sgt. Slaughter on The Path Of Champions.

I practically owned him in the match, his bar was flashing red and I hit him with three simultaneous signature moves and he always stayed down after the first and second one. But when I hit him with my third signature move and pressed the shoulder buttons to enable my finisher, he got up straight away, punched me so I didn't get a finisher and suddenly got me with a Cobra Clutch, which by the way, he didn’t even have a full finisher meter. :wtf:

Yeah, though it's quite difficult to reverse some things.

When you get hit with a flurry of punches, I'm pretty sure they're irreversible.

You have to be pinpoint accurate to reverse certain moves.

Handicap matches are absolutely impossible to win when you're the one at the disadvantage.

I just finished playing it and I was The Big Show against Mysterio & Steamboat and all they did was constantly pummel me from each side and I couldn't reverse them, as apparently, the pummeling is irreversible.

But Steamboat got his finisher and jumped up to the top rope, so I ran to the opposite corner of the ring and to the outside too, so I was the furthest away that I could be from him. Steamboat then jumped off the top rope and rocketed towards me and hit me dead on, knocking me out and leaving me with my mouth open and thinking "WTF!?".

Yea, even triple threat elimination matches are that way. They're essentially a handicap match and you get screwed over big time.

As for the online, I can't get thru a match without someone quitting so if anyone here on tpww wants to boost some online together for the 360, let me know.

Never lost an elimination match yet. I just quick grapple one, switch to the other and quick grapple him too, etc. After a while they start getting stunned. You can then switch to strong grapples. Signature moves are hard to reverse for the CPU, so once you get one, it gets even easier. Don't even try pinning, just go for the KO.

Well, I've been playing the game for a week now so I have a pretty fair opinion of it now.

It's a really good game, very enjoyable, but it's not perfect. There are a few problems with the game, in my opinion.

I don't know about the PS3 version but for me and the 360 version, the games "sticks" everytime I'm on the menu screen. I noticed it does that to load up the music, once the music plays, it's fine, but when you select a mode, it "sticks" again for a moment as it loads up what you selected.

Another thing is, for me, is what you need to do to change who you're facing. You have to move the right stick to change who you're facing, which, to me, can be a bit annoying as you have to take your thumb off the buttons to flick the stick, which means, you're totally open to attacks as your thumb isn't near the buttons to attack back. So the majority of the time I change who I'm facing, I always get pummelled to hell by someone else.

Lastly, the AI is great in the game as it actually puts up a fight, unlike in the SVR series, but it does like to screw you over at times. It always happens when there's more than just you and one CPU facing each other. Even though it's "every man for himself", the AI just goes straight for you. It happens to me everytime. The match starts, the CPU's walk to the middle of the ring and then they both turn to face me and beat the hell out of me, together. So it always turns into a handicap match for me. The only way I can stop it is if I manage to get one CPU to accidentally hit the other and I run away, thus causing them to fight.

So overall, it's a great little game, and probably the best game THQ have done that's not in their usual "wrestling game" lineup, but it does have it's flaws, like all games.

Also, I want to add that the game seems to vomit out achievements. I have no idea what the achievements are as I never really look at them, but it's only been a week and I have about half the achievements already.

Xbox 360 owners of the game getting R-Truth DLC character for free after THQ apologizes for taking too long with the Dusty and Cody Rhodes pack.

PS3 owners also will be able to get him for free at a later date and once PSN goes back online.

WWE Games and THQ have just announced on the official WWE All-Stars Facebook page that due to the delay of DLC content for the Xbox 360 version of the game, they will be giving away R-Truth as a free downloadable character, just like The Honky Tonk Man.

The development team said that Truth was supposed to be a paid download but considering that the original 360 DLC for the game (American Dream Pack: Dusty and Cody Rhodes for $1.99/160 MS points) was supposed to be released on April 19, along side the PS3 release, they wanted to give the fans something as a means of apology.

I should also say that the delayed packs will be available tomorrow to all 360 users world-wide. These include the American Dream Pack and The Honky Man and The pre-order bonus Million Dollar Pack: Ted DiBiase and Ted DiBiase Jr.

R-Truth will be available when Download Pack 2 is released. And no, you will not have to buy Download Pack 2 to access him.

'K, so, rented this Fri. eve., have beaten all the Path of Champions modes, but I just had one question about the Tag Team one. When you get the final cutscene where you and your partner (I played as Edge and teamed w/Orton FTR...) get the WWE Tag Team Championship, I cannot tell, and was wondering if anyone else could, whether they used the new belt images or the old ones. I suspect this might be the first game to feature the copper, circular belt with the Spartan helmet-like logo, as I thought I saw a circular sideplate but couldn't be sure.

Also, I won like 3 matches, the CPU as Orton was a fucking GLORY-HOUND, winning almost every match! :mad:
