Let's get it on!
New York is on the verge of legalizing the controversial but popular mixed martial-arts sport known as Ultimate Fighting.
Gov. Paterson and leaders in the Senate have proposed lifting the ban on the events, claiming that bouts at Madison Square Garden and other venues would produce at least $2 million in revenue for the cash-starved state from taxes and broadcast fees and spur millions more in economic activity for hotels and other businesses.
The Assembly has blocked the bill in the past, arguing that matches that include kicks, slams, locks, chokes and elbow and knee strikes are too brutal for the Empire State.

it seems like a no brainer to legalize it there. I mean, politics is driven completely by money, and regardless of how they think of the brutality of the sport, one would think that all they would be seeing is dollar signs.

The old UFC owner pissed all a lot of people, leading to it being banned

MMA is generally safer than boxing anyway. They don't let guys go until they die and they don't let guys get up 8 million times as long as they can answer a 10 count.
