View Full Version : How long until we can move around with Kinect? Thats what I wanna know

With the tech demos of the dancing, fitness, and racing games, rail gun type 3rd person games are absolutely unacceptable. All games should have the ability to control and move your character.
Stand on the ground, this is a neutral LS. A step up would hold the LS up, moving you forward. Step back from neutral to go back, step to the side to strafe and what have you. Kinect can recognize bent knees, bend them to crouch. Go into a catchers position or one knee to go prone. Or even go prone to go prone (lol, why didn't I think of that first). The Forza demo looked like it tracked head movement to look around in the car, so track head movement for the RS.
The difficulty of these games would have to be taken down a bit. Doing COD4 Mile High Club on Veteren would be near impossible. But boss battle should be challenging but nothing crazy.
It seems all this is possible. Why were we shown shitty demos?

I'd rather go paintballing/laser tag/car racing track day than do anything suggested.

He is asking how do you move your character via kinect. Not like move in place, but move across the screen. You know, what you do with the d-pad.

like Hasney said...there are better, real life things to do. I dont wanna play NBA 2k12 by running around my living room and taking jump shots. If i wanted that, i'd just go to the local gym, play, and actually get better at the real game.
These 'motion' games are all just gimmicks like the Wii, that will eventually fade.

Adventure games could make bank off this. Narnia/Fable/Harry Potter/Oblivion esque

I live in an apartment with squeaking floor and I am considerate of my neighbors, I'm not truly interested in a game where I'm jumping up and down infront of a camera.

I don't see it working for sports games. MAYBE baseball.
FPS Adventure/Shooters mostly

If it was totally optional in a game, I got a Kinect for free and was 1:1 motion in the game,I'd just use it to bum the corpses of defeated enemies in multiplayer while I do everything else with the pad.

If you take a shit...would shit fall on the corpse? That would be pretty sweet. Then you have to clean shit off your floor.

I think the best way would be to add another accessory for one hand. Something like the nunchuck attachment on the Wii I guess, just have that in one hand. Allows you to still freely move your arm around for things, bud can joystick it to move character easy. DUNNO

Or just add the controller, hold it with one hand.

Yeah, but if you did that, you're the kind of douche who probably deserves it.
