You know, I tried not to get hyped, but I just read this:

the Classic Controller worked pretty well too.

NO FUCKING WII-MOTE. SOLD.

Online and 4-player split screen. Ugh, it better not suck.

The story is "re-imagined" with Daniel Craig in the lead role and things, but the multi-player and maps is supposed to be just like the 64 version.

Since its being based on the Craig version of "Bond", this Bond is going to be a bit more vicious than the Brosnan Bond.

Not made in conjunction of the game, but damn if this doesn't fit.

I hope there's a classic mode.

Wonder if they'll release the original on VC?

It seems that porting/updating GoldenEye for a "next-gen" system has pretty much been a major demand of gamers since companies started porting and revamping old games for new systems. And since that day people have been arguing over which system the game should land on. An HD upgrade on the Xbox 360 has been a common chant by many, but when a new version of GoldenEye was finally revealed it landed on the Wii.

I'm not complaining at all. I love my Wii and I'm happy to have the game on it, but the swirling assumptions and complaints about the game's final destination led me to wonder why the Wii was selected as the console of choice. Julian Widdows, Executive Producer at Activision Blizzard UK gladly answered that question with a tone of finality and defiance.

"Because the console and its audience deserves a cutting edge shooter," he said, "because Eurocom and ATVI have something to prove -- that Nintendo’s machine is underestimated in terms of its ability to deliver serious, credible, mature experiences -- and because it feels so natural to bring GoldenEye home to Nintendo."

There you have it. The Wii deserves this and Eurocom and ATVI want to prove that it does. Good enough reasoning for you? Stay tuned this weekend to find out more as the entire interview goes up then.

The Wii doesn't deserve shit

I wasn't totally impressed with the graphics that Ive seen in screenshots so far, BUT Goldeneye on the N64 proved that if the gameplay is fun the graphics can look like shit and it doesn't matter. The fact that they're porting the original modes from the N64 game and adding online play in conjunction with 4 player split screen shows thats what they're going for. It comes out the day after Epic Mickey too.

No, but you should at least hope it'll look better than the N64.

So what? They've given up on trying to make another Bond game HALF as good as Goldeneye, so they're just gonna rerelease it and use Daniel Craig (who I think is an AWFUL actor) instead of Pierce Brosnan?

Kalyx triaD

More remake than rerelease. That may be good or bad depending on how you feel about it.

I think what someone should have done (better than EA did with "From Russia With Love") was make a game based on a previous movie instead of remaking Goldeneye. I dont know who owns the rights to the old movies to make games based on them but that would be a pretty decent idea..

Activision owns the Bond license which means they can make a game based on the old films. EA used to own the license but once the deal expired, they didn't renew and Activision swooped in to win the exclusive deal.

EA never did anything similar to Nintendo and Rare where they bought the rights to a specific game from a film and can hold onto the rights even if they lost control of the Bond license.

Bond games have been wank for a while imo. I really am hyped up for the release of Blood Stone. Fingers fucking crossed.

Martin Hollis, who while with Rare was one of the men behind the original GoldenEye on the Nintendo 64, has some kind words to say about Activision, the publisher pushing the remake.

Oh, sorry, did I say kind?

"I imagine it is a business decision isn't it?", HOllis told Official Nintendo Magazine. "This name is valuable, let's use it. I find it hard to picture Activision's top management being excited about the original and wanting to do it justice. In fact, I find it hard to imagine them being excited about any game. It's my perception that they are trying to be EA, only more so. I think they are doing a fine job at that."

Before you think he's saddled with a load of sour grapes, Hollis does have kinder words to say about Eurocom, the actual developers working on the game, saying "they are a good company" and that "I'm confident they have done their very best".
