View Full Version : Batista signed with Strikeforce
Former WWE Champion Batista announced that he's going to fight for Strikeforce. The TMZ cameras caught up with Batista over the weekend and he said he is finished with WWE, and intends to fight for the MMA promotion. "I'm done with WWE," he said.
When asked if he will be fighting for UFC, Batista responded, "Strikeforce." When asked who he will fight, Batista said, "I know, but I'm not telling you." To view the footage, visit TMZ.com.

Spokesperson: No Strikeforce deal for WWE's Batista right now
by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Jun 21, 2010 at 11:50 am ET
Despite a rash of recent reports, former World Wrestling Entertainment performer "Batista" (David Bautista Jr.) has not signed with Strikeforce.
The 41-year-old aspiring MMA fighter "definitely has not signed" with the organization, Strikeforce spokesperson Mike Afromowitz today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
Numerous reports of the supposed signing popped up this morning after TMZ.com issued a story quoting Bautista as having a deal.
Afromowitz declined to comment on anything beyond the denial of a signed deal. But additional sources told MMAjunkie.com officials have had informal talks with Bautista and may eventually offer a contract.
They stressed, though, that no such deal is imminent.
Bautista began on the pro-wrestling circuit in 2000 and joined the WWE in 2002. Although once one of the organization's most marketable stars, he cut ties with the WWE in May.
He could join UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and Strikeforce heavyweight Bobby Lashley as WWE vets who eventually made the move to MMA.
Although slightly smaller than his "billed" wrestling height of 6-foot-6 and weight of 290 pounds, Bautista would compete in MMA's heavyweight division. If the wrestler does sign with the California-based promotion, a bout with NFL veteran Herschel Walker, who made his MMA debut with Stikeforce early this year, could be a possibility given its marketability and both fighters' limited cage experience.

So Strikeforce has old ex athletes and lets them fight each other?
MoFo, create the same thread over in Wrestling too will you?
Ok never mind, apparently he did NOT sign with Strikeforce yet.

I dont think Batista has ever really trained MMA has he? Im not big on the guy so i dont know his athletic background, but something tells me he knows diddly squat about MMA.
At least the likes of Lashley and Lesnar actually had legit wrestling experience.
He is going to get his ass handed to him on a platter if he goes up against a half-decent MMA fighter.

Booker T kicked his ass. Lord Help him if they feed him to anyone in Strikeforce.
As long as they keep him away from Fedor and Overeem I can see him beating a few lesser fighters, perhaps Werdum or Walker.
I doubt he'll have anything but striking though, and stamina will be a huge problem.

Booker T whooped Batista's ass. Batista going to MMA is a huge money grab.
Why is Batista doing everything much later in his life.

Batista would get killed by light heavyweights, let alone any one of the guys Strikeforce has at heavyweight.

Batista didn't like the direction wrestling was going, he didn't get a title shot every month.

I wonder how fast Batista will get tired of MMA when he doesn't get 6 title shots in 5 months against Lesnar.

He'll be out with a debilitating injury after 45 seconds. speaking of....

He'll spend most of that five months nursing that debilitating injury, and expect a shot against the champ immediately on return, despite lasting only 30 seconds in his last match and finishing it while crying like a little girl.

Seriously, they should have a celebrity division or something for guys like Bats. People would pay money to see Bats or Angle or ex-football stars fight in the cage. Also that way it would give them a chance not to be humiliated by the real fighters.

That seems like something ABC would do as a special. Bats could fight Dustin Diamond or something.
And if we're being honest (And I usually am) I don't see much draw to Bats except to watch him get humiliated by real fighters.
