I probably should have posted this earlier, such as BEFORE it happened.

Anyway, tonight I saw the Big Four show (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax) from Bulgaria at the Movie Theater. It was a Fathom Event (sp?). It was a good time.

Anthrax was first, and they fucking KILLED. Joey Belladonna was fronting for this tour, and he still sounds great. They played much of the good shit ("Caught in a Mosh," "Got the Time," and "Mad House" were the first three songs.) They did the first verse of "Heaven & Hell" in the middle of "Wardance." Great set.

Musically, Megadeth was great. Dave Mustaine can't hit high notes, yet he constantly tries. It was raining hard at that point. A good show, though. Played "Skin of my Teeth," "Peace Sells," and "Symphony of Destruction." Stuff you'd expect them to play.

Slayer was next. Again, nothing new. Fun fact: Kerry King wore this fucking brutal looking gauntlet for the first song, "World Painted Blood." It was covered in 3" spikes. I have to say, the European audiences are much different from the American ones. If it was America, and Slayer was playing, the entire arena would have devolved into a mosh pit. In Sophie, there were like 3 or 4 mini-pits going on. It looked much safer than what I am used to from this band.

Before Metallica came out, they mentioned Dio. And Kerry King told a Dio story about how he found out Dio was a sports fan. Then Scott Ian, Lars, and Dave all told Dio stories on their own. That was a weird thing: Dave, Lars, and Scott were together, but Kerry was by himself.

Finally, of course, was Metallica. D-Mac, pay attention. 'tallica was great. They played a lot of stuff from Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and Kill 'em All. They also played the stuff you'd expect them to play, like "One," "Enter Sandman," and "Nothing Else Matters". At the end of "Nothing Else Matters," the camera showed a close up of James' pick. One side had the logos of all the bands. The other had "Big Four." Crowd went ape shit for this. And, pretty much EVERYTHING all night.

The coolest part of the night was them doing "Am I Evil" by Diamond Head with Dave Lombardo of Slayer...

AND ALL of Megadeth...

AND ALL of Anthrax.

Vocals were split between James, Joey, and Dave. The song ends and, Tom Araya gets on stage and poses for a picture with everyone else. I didn't see Jeff Hanneman or Kerry King.

Two things about this in closing:

1. Only thing that would have made this better would have been the presence of Exodus (making it the Big Five).

2. If they tour the US in '11 or '12, which they very well could do, I will sell my kidney to see it.

Sounds awesome! I'd love to see all these bands live at one show, and will definitely be looking for videos of the Am I Evil cover with all the bands.

The metal scene in Europe is totally different to the US and the UK (which is in Europe, but whatever...). This is why I'm moving to Germany in September.

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!

Just watched some videos on youtube. There's a lot of comments saying this is the greatest moment in heavy metal history! And to be honest I can't say I disagree. Truly epic moment, I wish I could have been there.

Was so awesome to see Mustaine and Hetfield side-by-side, Ellefson playing with 'Tallica members and Scott Ian headbanging along with the bands. Basically seeing the bands all together on stage at once (with the exception of most of Slayer).

I would also sell my kidney to see this. And one lung and probably my testicles as well.

Metallica was awful. There were moments when everything came together, but Lars' drumming and James' god awful singing during most songs killed it for me. Plus, they didn't show the whole set in movie theatres, which pissed me off to no end.

Slayer and Anthrax WERE awesome. Slayer killed. But Metallica? Slow down a little and play the songs the way they were written, guys :(

We had this exact shame show in Warsaw 7 days ago.

I didn't attend, cause I hate Mettalica, seen both Anthrax and Slayer already and just don't really care about Megadeth.

The prices were sky-high, too.

Slayer, Megadeth and Testament are all touring the States together soon. I kinda wanted to go.
