I wonder if Vince approves of his wife destroying kayfabe.
They should have shown her taking the Stunner and kicking JR in the balls instead of other segments from those angles.

It may seemm dumb in one specifically filmed by, say Linda, but a lot of them aren't made by the people the ad promotes.
As such, it's considered a watermark.
She's no Sam Seaborn running for the California 47th.

I've always thought along those lines when I see an ident for a TV show where "[INSERT BRAND HERE] proudly sponsors [INSERT SHOW HERE]". Obviously you're proud to do it, you wouldn't be ashamed to sponsor it would you!?

Yeah, it was 2006. Survivor Series was in Philly, the crowd was a little smarky, and they gave the then undefeated CM Punk a good welcome, but nothing too outstanding right away. DX, The Hardys and Punk were warming up the crowd and they decided to chant for CM Punk as Triple H was trying to do his shtick. He improvised well and got CM Punk to deliver the "Are you ready?" line, but I found it funny when later that week, Punk lost his undefeated streak to Hardcore Holly, and the following weekend was the first to be eliminated from the infamous Extreme Elimination Chamber, also by Hardcore Holly, I believe. Punk probably should not have won the match (a heel turn for Bobby Lashley screwing over Rob Van Dam or Punk would have been the smarter booking), but it seemed a little weird that Punk gets that moment at Survivor Series, and then loses all his momentum.

Fact Check:
Pro-Wrestling stopped being a "traveling side-show" for the most part well before Linda McMahon was conceived. It was it's own thing.
Bigger issue: Linda McMahon had about as much of a role in "taming" pro-wrestling as Austin's second wife (Chris Adams' ex) had in creating the Stone Cold gimmick. And even THAT is being generous.

In American politics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_the_United_States), "I approve this message" (sometimes in the past tense, also with "authorize" in place of "approve", or with "ad" instead of "message") is a phrase said by candidates for federal office in political advertisements (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_campaign) on television (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television) and radio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio) in order to comply with the so-called "Stand By Your Ad" provision of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bipartisan_Campaign_Reform_Act) (BCRA), enacted in 2002, that requires "a statement by the candidate that identifies the candidate and states that the candidate has approved the communication." The provision was intended to force political candidates running any campaign for office in the United States to associate themselves to their television and radio advertising, thereby discouraging them from making controversial claims or attack ads (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_ad).

Yeah, but people in general love scapegoats. This is just the IWC/Smark scapegoat. There's always something, and while the toning down of wrestling started years before her senate ambitions, mobs rarely stop to let facts get in the way of their mobbing.

WWE made collective decision to try to get back the advertisers that they had lost because of the ParentsTV Coucil's smear campaign that they ran during the attitude era.
It has seemed to have worked because they got Mattel to do their toy line, and 7-11 is selling WWE cups again which they did last year also. I don't think WWE had cups like that in 7-11 stores since the WCW Invasion in 2001.
They also again got their old friends Slim Jims to advertise their diarrhea inducing meat sticks again.
WWE PG is about WWE business not about Linda's possible Senate seat. Hell I bet the WWE didn't give Linda much of a chance of winning at first.
There one reason and one reason only why Linda was steering clear about her involvement in WWE: her opponents were claiming that WWE was helping her campaign illegally by pulling YouTube videos with controversial angles involving her.

Yeah, it couldn't have had anything with wrestler that were employed with WWE ending up dead at a young age. (See Pillman, Brian; Hart, Owen; Guerrero, Eddie; Shall Not be Named, He Who)
Or anything to do with wrestlers who used to be employed with WWE dying shortly after their tenure with WWE. (See... fuck it, that list is too fucking long)
Or their joke of a Wellness policy that will stop a match for blood (a serious incident to be sure) but NOT for REAL injuries (see Orton, Randy; see DiBiase, Ted; fuck it, this list is too fucking long too).

From PWInsider:
The following was posted on Kurt Angle's Twitter account.
To all connecticut residents, as u know linda mcmahon is running for office. I worked with linda on many projects in wwe. Linda was a professional that got things done. I worked with her on "smackdown ur vote" among many other projects. She is smart, bright and a true leader. I am now in tna and it doesn't benefit me to talk about linda or what a great woman she is. I saw with my own eyes. She's honest, sincere and always looked out for what was best to her employees. Linda was the positiveness in wwe. She has the qualities that I would want in a politician. She listens to you, and always does the right thing. If I were living in connecticut, I would vote for her with pride and an eagerness to get the economy, real estate and health reform back on track. Remember, I'm in tna and I don't plan on leaving but I want what is best for this country, and linda mcmahon has that "IT" factor you rarely see in today's leaders. Good luck linda. GOD bless, kurt angle 1996 olympic gold medalist and proud AMERICAN
