It is time to be brave and declare your top 25 albums from the past 25 years (that is 1985-2010). None of this "honourable mentions" bullshit, just your favourite 25 albums from this time period. If you are braver, you might even put them in order of preference. I am not that brave, therefore I won't. If you like, you can say why you chose a particular album.
Here are mine:
Rasputina - Thanks for the Ether
No other record sounds like this album, though many have tried to replicate it, but failing to notice if you are going to go all period, you can't take it too seriously.
Regina Spector - Soviet Kitsch
Her best album to date, allowing her quirks to flow free, yet they don't overshadow the tunes. Her albums since this magnum opus have failed to reach the heights of this record.
Metallica - Master of Puppets
See Diesel mac for more info.
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
Bonkers chicks are hot, especially when they have the tunes to back it up.
Aerosmith - Pump
The pinnacle of their Geffen Years.
Blink 182 - Enema of the State
Its pop punk, but holds more catchy songs than any other album I know. It is a monster.
Dave Matthews Band - Crash
Get your Dave on.
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
Another album that, with the exception of the album that came before it, has no real sonic predecessor. Orginal with a capital "O".
Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans
I find this album to be more satisfying than his other works.
Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Of Natural History
Bonkers as they are talented. Carla Kihlstedt is also one of my favourite musicians, ever.
Tool - Lateralus
Beast of an album.
Rilo Kiley - More Adventurous
A great album. It just pips execution... to the post.
Incubus - Morning View
Great to listen to on sunny days.
Soundgarden - Superunknown
Rocking melancholy at its finest.
Alice in chains - Dirt
Seminal rock album of the 90's.
Bjork - Post
Great album. A toss up between this and Vespertine for her best album, but I think I enjoy this a little more.
Nickel Creek - This Side
acoustic goodness.
Pixies - Doolitte
The reason why 80's-90's alternative rock slaps the shit out of the pretenders today. (along with The Replacement's Let it be)
REM - Out of Time
REM - Automatic for the People
These two albums are quite possibly my all-time favourites. Good times.
Dream Theater - Images and Words
Prog-tastic.
Whiskeytown - Pneumonia
Pre-solo Ryan Adams. All his whiskeytown material beat his solo output.
Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals
As far as I'm concerned, this is his best album to date.
Matthew Good Band - Beautiful Midnight
Great rock album.
Terrorvision - How to Make friends and influence people
You may laugh, but this album is killer, no filler.
Be brave!

Rilo Kiley - Take Offs and Landings
Really?
I love RK and that album has some good tunes, but I have always found it to be their weakest album. What about it makes you choose it over The Execution of all Things and More Adventurous?

Honestly could have gone either way, since I love both of those just about equally as much. Take Offs and Landings was the first album I heard of theirs and the one I have listened to the most and remember immediately "falling in love" with it from the very first track, so had to pick that. Also keep trying to elaborate but sounds so pretentious, but I dunno, all her songs on the first album sound more "innocent"/"simple" or something and I <3 them.
this will take me some time

I get that. More Adventurous was the first album of theirs that I got and is the one that I have listened to the most. That is why I chose it above the others.

It's a very good album. But I also haven't completely thrashed the tits off it in a while, so that's probably why I feel so good about it.
