Matt Striker, Taz, and Justin Roberts are now property of Superb Championship Wrestling!
SCW has no ladies while DWW has taken a great gamble here with no former world champions (Except Mysterio). I was really impressed with the list and then I happened to read Rob Terry
Good luck everybody!
Lock Jaw

Lock Jaw weighs in with his two-cents:
jWo (working title): A healthy mix of current main eventers, and jam-packed with potential up-and-comers (AKA, NXT people). Desmond Wolfe and The Pope are welcome additions to this "WWE-heavy" roster and should have plenty to keep them busy.
Biggest Challenge: Getting these NXT guys "over". Also using John Cena in a way that will interest TPWW, hopefully without resorting to "turn him heel".
This Is Wrestling (TIW): This fed seems to have a lot of "big men", which could lead to some interesting matches! Samoa Joe vs Undertaker? Sheamus vs Hernandez? Zeke vs Nash? Sign me up. There are plenty of other names in the mix to keep up the interest as well. Beer Money is great as a team, or as singles wrestlers. Christian and AJ Styles once again together.
Biggest Challenge: Ironically enough, what interests me in it, is also their biggest challenge. In a roster filled with big men, you need to occupy them all, while not having them absolutely bury your smaller talent all the time.
Untitled: Another solid roster with main eventers, a mid card, low card, and even some tag teams. Sting potentially sees action against some of the biggest current WWE stars in Triple H and Randy Orton. Potential Goldust/Cody Rhodes angle. Pretty solid mid-card as well with names like Kaval, Jay Lethal, Eric Young etc.
Biggest challenge: The Great Khali, what to do with him?
Superb Championship Wrestling (SCW): Honestly, a pretty superb roster here. A great mix of TNA/WWE/NXT and different attractions. Fantastic possibilities. Angle vs Swagger, Punk/Jeff Hardy reunion, Hardy Boyz reunion #412 vs Young Bucks, Kane vs Abyss in a convoluted story. This roster seems like it will lend itself great to tag teams. Hardy Boyz, Hawkins & Archer, Young Bucks, instead of feuding maybe Angle and Swagger team, and maybe Kane and Abyss team. Tag teams galore. Doug Williams and William Regal team up because they are British? Lots of different ways to go with this roster and lots of possibilities.
Biggest Challenge: With so many possible routes, they need to pick the absolute best one and stick to it.
Dead Wrong Wrestling (DWW): This roster will probably have the toughest time out of anybody. The only solidified main eventer they have is Rey Mysterio. Other than that, they do have some pretty solid talent to work with. I foresee this fed being the "most different" of them all.
Biggest Challenge: Is obviously getting some of these mid-card names over as credible main-eventers. Miz, John Morrison, Kofi Kingston, and potentially MVP are probably the front-runners for this task. I'm actually looking forward to this one just to see how they try and pull it off.

I don't know what I'm expected to include and what not. I also don't want to underdo it, or overdo it.
I'm basically trying to keep the parameters pretty vague for now just to see how far into you guys are willing to go as bookers. If you're all totally into it and want to ride out verbatim promos and move-for-move matches, go for it...though I don't think all that will really be necessary.
I was thinking about maybe posting a sample show that I write for the hell of it. Would that be helpful?

The Pope
07-08-2010, 10:09 AM
sure
A lot is being made of having "amazing in-ring wrestlers" but this game is about booking the angles.
Would you really give top marks to: *Chris Sabin and Evan Bourne have a 5 star match*? And what what if someone books *The Great Khali and Mark Henry in a 5 star masterpiece*?
NOTE: I am not trying to take away from whoever is booking DWW, I'm sure they will come up with interesting angles to make the matches worth a damn. I just don't get the advantage of having "good workers"...unless people are gonna vote for the show with their favourite wrestler on, of course. Which isn't really the idea.

Well with good in-ring wrestlers, you can book things liike Iron Man matches or submissions matches. I'd also like the times of each segment to be included, so I'd be more inclined to rank Chris Sabin and Evan Bourne for fifteen minutes highter than The Great Khali and Mark Henry....unless you describe enough interesting things going on in the match.
Anyway, that's all pretty subjective. Here's a sample that Paul Heyman (thanks) has provided me with from a similar game:
http://altfeds.freeforums.org/wcw-nitro-episode-1-new-beginnings-t16.html
Now, that show goes into EXTREME detail, which is nice, but I don't think it's NECESSARY. Basically I want the bookers to write as much as they think they need to write to get their points across. I do like the touch of using the announcers at the beginning to set up the show and remind people of ongoing storylines, but again, that's not completely necessary. I also fear that something like that may the the "tl:dr" treatment from the public poll, but I trust at least the judges would get through it.
I'll try to find some alternatives to show you as well.

Howabout the top rated show gets first pick? Or do it NFL style and let the lowest rated show go first to help boost their show?
Well, you mean for season 2? There will be new books by then and they will probably be assigned randomly to whichever fed, wouldn't be fair to get that kind of advantage.
Anybody Thrilla
07-13-2010, 07:23 PM
I think I like the lowest rated show idea. Sorry you kinda got shafted, but as I've stated numerous times, this is the inaugural season. There are definitely some bugs to work out. I like to just learn on the fly rather than stall this whole process thinking about every single thing that could sorta screw another company. This will be noted for future seasons, though. :y:
It's cool, I got some useful guys.
I actually meant for week 2 rather than season 2. We get to pick again after Show 1 is posted. I'd say let the lowest rated show pick first.
But I guess that depends on how long we leave voting open for!?
Anybody Thrilla
07-13-2010, 07:37 PM
Probably from deadline to deadline, and I'll post the previous week's results with the next round of shows. Maybe? Hold on, let me think about that...
Or just base it on the reverse order that the original rosters were drafted? I think someone else suggested that a while back.
Evil Vito

<font color=goldenrod>Yeah, I really don't mind what we do with the free agents. I need to sign like 2 free agents for the purposes of a match in my 2nd show. I'm really not picky about who they are as long as it's two male wrestlers. I'd more than likely just drop them after that week's show or relegate them to job duty, anyway.</font>

I was thinking new companies for each season.
Good, that seems fair.

As a bonus, bookers should randomly be paired up with another promotion from their league to co-book an invasion angle once the season has ended. Just for shits and gigs.

I think the winning booker should be able to continue his show into season 2. Whattayathink?
Ooooooh. That sounds good. But would they keep all off their roster?
Guess you could always get teh new bookers to draft from everyone except whoever is on the winners roster. Then do a short (3 pick) draft lottery?
Swiss Ultimate

The winner could be given the right to lock out his top ten, then be placed randomly into the draft for season 2. The top ten would count whatever free agents they really wanted/needed to continue feuds.
Are trades an option between bookers?

They sure are.
I am really interested in seeing how this thing plays out, kind of interested in signing up for Season 2.

I didn't really want to give the winning booker the chance to continue into the next season because I eventually wanted to do a 'BEST OF THE BEST' challenge around season six or so where all of the previous season winners would compete against one another, possibly in a longer season with more twists and turns (injuries, wellness policy violations, etc.)

It could still be done, the only thing that could mess up that plan would be if someone were to win season after season.

That seems like a good plan. Would 25 people sign up? I would think they would, I'm just asking.

25 bookers? What do you mean?
25 bookers from all of the 1st 5 seasons he means.

I didn't mean they'd be a part of the official seasons. Just something for fun, if other promotions wanted to participate, that we could do once the season is done and the next one is getting organized

Reminder for the bookers, the deadline is Sunday, July 18th at 11:59 PM, Eastern Standard Time for week one of television. That's 3 days, fella.
My show is pretty much done. I've been holding on to it until I'm the last to hand it in - that way I can tinker right up to the last moment but it's pretty much ready to go if everyone else is good to go.
However, I got to thinking that maybe the other guy(s) are doing the same thing, so, given that I'm as happy as I am going to be with my show - I'll be PMing it tonight. That way if all are handed it, we can get posted early.

Sent mine last night. I think that makes 4 of 5, which means we're waiting on one guy, I won't name names. Just yet.

It's fine I was just wondering.
I want to figure out how I'd like to format the 'airings' of the shows as well.
What options are there aside from open new topic > post all 5 shows > post thread?
Lol.. Everyone hitting up for a 2 day delay even though you 5 bookers had the chance to submit well in advance. Blame the late guy.
There was a deadline set in place. If one or all of the bookers wanna work right up to deadline it's our choice. However, I did kind of expect the shows to be posted straight after that deadline.
As well as being interested to see what the other guys have done, I also wanna gauge public opinion on my own show. That way I can ammend something that isn't going over very well.
With things as they are I don't know how we're gonna work things going into Show 2. If our deadline is this coming Sunday and the first shows haven't been posted as yet, when can we expect the judging to be done? Will we get results for Show 1 before Show 2 is due?
Let's say I've started an angle/fued in Show 1, I then write and send Show 2 furthering that fued only to discover that all 10 of the judges hate the idea. That only leaves me 2 shows (+ a PPV) to turn the angle/storyline/fued around.
That I can understand, I will try to get my judging done asap. If all the shows get published today for instance, we should aim to get the opinion out by Friday at max so that it gives you guys 2 days to make any changes as seen fit.
In any case, its ABT's game now.

The new deadline will be a week from whenever I post them (which will be tonight, by the way). I don't understand the big fuss over it.
No big fuss really. Just couldn't understand why there was a wait if you have all the shows. Surely. it's just a copy/paste job for you?
Good work on the deadline compromise though.
