View Full Version : Will TNA get sued?

The MAC

So TNA is pushing their "One Last Stand" (sounds like a viagra commercial gone wrong) with heavy references to ECW.

Do you think WWE will sue since ECW is a WWE trademark?

Jeritron
07-19-2010, 02:22 AM
They should be sued on principle. That is laughable. It misses the joke of the title and is pretty much the wrestling PPV equivalent of "Shoopie" magic markers

Jeritron
07-19-2010, 02:22 AM
They should almost be protected under parody laws, even though that's not their direct intention

treyace
07-19-2010, 02:30 AM
well i'm just glad TNA is the first major wrestling company to use an actually hot rap song for their ppv

Jeritron
07-19-2010, 02:38 AM
Are you trying to claim the Wrestlemania 2000 theme wasn't hot fire?

treyace

Please tell me your not talking about this laughable bullshit

I will probably order this PPV because they are using a hot rap song

Kane Knight

LOL no. That's not how the law works. And suing would likely give more publicity to TNA, so they'd better stick to lawsuits theycan win.

They're probably going to look into cease and desist. I've heard that the new promo for the PPV features ECW chants.

Well, I think that as long as they dont "directly" say anything ECW related then there good (kinda how its "Brother Ray" and Angle now says "It's damm real") Besides, it's not like a wrestling company can censor its audience because they want to do chants...

(Somebody mentions how WWE edits out "Cena Sucks" and "You cant wrestle" chants)

Touche :)

WWE's tried to stop them from airing "ECW" chants before.

Personally, I don't think there's any actual grounds in the first place, but what the heck....

There is a difference between what is said by the crowd who aren't employees and what is said by the broadcast team/talent.

Tenay called the Rhyno, Raven, Dreamer and Stevie the "ECW Four" last week on Impact. They could be sued because WWE owns the ECW name and likeness.

The Jayman
07-19-2010, 01:48 PM
WWE could sell the ECW name and likeness to TNA for $27.32

WWE could buy the TNA name and likeness for a case of little debbie snack cakes, a 6 pack of Kool Aid Bursts, and a Game Boy Advance SP.

So TNA is now known as just TN? If that's the case, won't Tennessee sue them over that?

Nah TNA isn't worth WWE's time. They probably could buy them easily but Vince wants competition.

(From the front page)

– TNAWrestlingNews.com is reporting that the current planned name for the ECW faction in TNA is ‘The Riot Makers’. Of course, that can always change.

...THE RIOT MAKERS?!

Why does TNA come up with such lame names?

BizarroKing
07-19-2010, 06:57 PM
Then the TNA squad will be changed to the "Peace Makers"

Just because the Nexus name is bad (it is) doesn't make "The Riot Makers" good.

It's TNE. Total Nonstop Entertainment. They're just going to be sued for lying.

Nah TNA isn't worth WWE's time. They probably could buy them easily but Vince wants competition.

WWE has better ways of dealing with competition.

I would be more angry at TNA for naming their PPV Hardcore Justice: One Last Stand. Just change it back to Hard Justice, but keep the subtitle, and there you go.

Yea, the whole concept of "Hey, we both have tattoos and mohawks... Lets form a team" is pretty bad. A decient team though, none the less. Whats next team Barbell Mafia or Silent But Deadly Mimes? :shifty:

Hardcore Justice: One Last Stand... sounds like a prision themed porno movie (then again if that porno had Lacy Von Erich and Daffney :naughty:)

Hogan's got some fight in him. I think he has ten, maybe twenty good stands left in him.
