View Full Version : Now that Cena's Superteam vs. The Nexus is set for Summerslam...

How do you guys think both teams match up? Obviously, the superfriends will squash the Nexus any day of the week collectively. I'm talking on a member by member basis. After all, now that the big match is set, we are bound to get all the proverbial singles / tag team matches on Raw each week leading up to Summerslam.

I personally think they match up like this:

Cena : Barrett
Edge : Slater
JoMo : Gabriel
Truth : Otunga
Khali : Skip
Jericho : Tarver
Bret : Young (One can't wrestle and the other just gets his ass kicked each week)

As far as lead up matches are concerned, I just hope we get to see Gabriel team with Tarver or Slater. Lookwise either of those combinations would be a sweet team.

Cena should turn his back on the team and join Nexus.

It would be interesting if Bret Hart was to turn and be the "bigger picture".

Lord knows, Vince has given him reason to want to destroy everything WWE.

I wouldn't mind seeing Chris Jericho vs. Heath Slater again, and play up Slater pinning Jericho during NXT. Slater hasn't really impressed too many people, so working with Jericho could really help him stand out.

Sheffield should destroy Khali, too. Something like that would help get him over as a force to be reckoned with. John Morrison vs. Justin Gabriel is a match I'd want to see, too.

This would have worked so much better for Survivor Series.

One thing I can't get past is that they are going to have to allow the Nexus to win part of that match. The superfriends can't just squash them at Summerslam because then it would devalue all the rep that the Nexus built up over the last several weeks. Imagine Bret v. McMahon Pt. 2 if McMahon got in a little more offense... that's what it would be like. Right now none of them poses HALF a threat, let alone a complete one, to any individual guy on Cena's team - except for maybe Bret (obvious reasons) and R-Truth (kayfabe shoulder injury).

These next few weeks they have to convince the fans that these guys - WITHOUT BACKUP - can handle any one of Cena's guys. I don't know if I could buy it. Only Barrett and Skip seem like they could handle themselves. Tarver and Gabriel both look like badasses, but that doesn't mean I think either one of them could handle Edge in a singles match...

...although I do think Tarver is gonna go all Lucas and Spielberg on someone every time he comes to the ring.

I guess they didn't think we fans would enjoy watching Cena get gangbusted for a few more weeks.

sigh.....

True but the format is 5 on 5 and besides there's always nXt season 2 they could be going up against by then.

That's why Bret called the hit on himself. Not just to throw everyone off of his trail but to get the insurance check from Lloyds of London.

Bret..... you sly dog.

See, I was hoping that when the Nexus went to NXT, they would do the whole recruiting thing. Maybe they can lure a few of the rookies (some of the heels) to the stable, which would be kinda cool. More numbers wouldn't be a bad thing, especially if you intelligently pick and choose who to add. Plus, it would give the Nexus more of an aura of strength, having them able to "intimidate" other rookies into joining.

So do we see the Nexus winning this? I think they should, but I'm not so sure unless we do see a swerve...can't see the 'E having the rookies collectively go cleanly over Cena/Edge/Jericho and co. this early in their careers.

Doesn't have to be traditional format. They've modified it in the past.

They did do 4 aside for a while but I've never seen them do more than that.

This is what I think is going to happen. His attack is the easiest one to have staged, since he set it up to have all of the roster in the ring, so there were really no witnesses other than the camera crew catching the tail end of it. He may even still be GM, just hiding behind the anonymity gimmick to help cover up his actual plan.

He could even have convinced Vince to let him stay GM to try and "get" Nexus since - for all Vince knows - Bret's as much of a target as he is. As anyone on the roster is, for that matter.

The thing is though that it would leave the Hart Dynasty in a lurch though they wouldn't have them join Nexus or even turn heel for that matter at this point.

Sounds like the start of a mega-babyface push to me. They've been betrayed by their own family to the group that attacked them. Harts versus Gabriel and Slater. Harts versus Tarver and Young. Harts versus Sheffield and Otunga. Months worth of tag feuds from one stable alone.

Besides if Bret was serious about aligning with Cena, he'd probably have dragged David and Tyson along with him. They have history with Nexus, and have more business being on that team than Khali or an injured Truth.

I felt they were teasing a heel-turn for the Hart Dynasty the last time I saw 'em wrestle. The announcers I mean. This would be a perfect time to do it. Maybe have them align with the Nexus against Bret.

I like that idea. For some reason the Hart Dynasty isn't getting the fan support I thought they would. I think they're great in the ring personally, but people keep arguing that they don't have any personality. I'm think I'm starting to see what they mean.

I think The Hart Dynasty are doing pretty fine. They get nice pops without really doing anything. Plus they play the face role in the ring well. Also, when you remove them as babyfaces from the tag team division, you literally have no other face teams left. Curt Hawkins & Vance Archer aren't going to get anymore over as babyfaces than The Hart Dynasty did.

They seem to be getting pretty strong reactions. However, the "mega babyface push" thing isn't all that bad an idea, since it would still likely give them a shot in the arm.

I still think the "turn on Team Cena" thing is bad, but hey, lemons and lemonade.
