Not really a big spoiler:
That happens at the last segment.

lol so apparently "they" ARE ECW. According to the opening, anyway.

So, what are the chances that the explanation by Dixie will actually make sense?

VSG
07-22-2010, 09:15 PM
Just read the spoilers. I don't believe "they" can be ECW, but that's just my thought.

So far a nice impact

I'm sorry, is there a different version on? I am seeing the Earl Hebner promo and the re-rewarding of the knockout title making the PPV redundant.

The next 2 matches should be good though.

Dreamer either has Jaundice or is yellow from fear of retribution from Vinny Mac.

Wow, what a small thread. If tpww isn't commenting, they are likely not watching and the ratings will be lower.

Anyway, the only segment I saw was the last one. Now, I'm glad they are doing this, and Tommy gave a good promo, but the whole trying to bury WWE and WWECW gets on my nerves.

It probably hurts to watch friends get fired. But really, you got to look out for number 1. And if I'm not mistaken, wasn't he working as a producer from 2002-2005 or 6? Or an agent?

Will Extreme Justice REALLY be that much better than any of the first two One Night Stands? I doubt it.

The whole bashing WWE thing is like watching a Burger King commercial. They never tell you how good they are, they just talk about how they are better than McDonalds. And then you look at the sales, and McDonalds is number 1. Burger King has its fans, and they are ok, but they can't beat McDonalds. Just like TNA can't beat WWE. Ripping on the better brand gets you nowhere.

Best of luck to TNA and the ECW guys...but if WWE wanted them, I don't think very many of those guys would turn that down, no matter how many friends they watched go, or how bad they were treated in past runs.

Hated the ECW stuff. I would have bought that Dreamer promo if WWE hadn't done One Night Stand. He's just coming off as a guy who can't let go of the past. The whole angle is coming off that way to me.

The PPV will have some good matches, I don't doubt that (especially RVD/Lynn), but this PPV does nothing to build the TNA brand when they need it most.

I thought the rest of the show was very solid and enjoyed the matches. Very few shitty angles and a lot of good wrestling.

yeah not a fan of the ecw stuff either. Came off as sad and actually made me mad that they dismissed the WWE's ecw ppv.

they were probly mad at what vince did to the ecw name that whole ecw on syfy stunk. if it was just 1 or 2 ppv's it would have been ok. 1 thing i am glad vince did was just end wcw and not try to revive the name.

Schlomey

he tried to keep ECW similar to old school wrestling but no matter what he did the numbers were not adding up. So he did what any smart business man would do...Keep a popular name but reinvent the brand in hopes to keep it alive and make money. Again..Didn't work. So now we have NXT.

It isn't Vince or WWE's fault that their brand of ECW didn't stick..its just a sign of the times.

Yeah they probably knew that there would never really be another ECW like the original but I don't fault them for trying...because when they realized they fucked up they swiftly ended it .....smart business.

Schlomey
07-23-2010, 04:30 PM
and furthermore, the last encarnation of ECW, ya know, the one with mostly newbs sprinkled lightly with some good vets...They actually had some of the best actual wrestling matches on TV.

See the problem with this is that it's just a name. Who cares what Vince did with the name? It was his to do what he pleased with it. If anything, Dreamer should be upset with Heyman for selling the name to WWE.

Furthermore, the promo came off to me as if he was pissed at the way WWE ran their ECW. So it's like what the fuck, is he pining for the days of the Zombie, the Extreme Expose and Batista vs Big Show?

It just makes no sense to me and I just feel that they're living in the past. Anyone who thinks that the ECW name will draw without the WWE powerhouse promoting it is insane. WWE had the advertising power plus the fact that something like it had never been done on the scale that they did it. TNA has neither.
