That was incredibly painful to listen to, tbh. Where are you finding these singers? Craigslist? That singer ( the new singer ) is horrible. I can't imagine what the old singer sounded like. Is there a shit singer store where you live? Do these horrible singers just hang out somewhere and talk about being horrible?

I dont even remember what the first song sounded like. The horrible singer really fucked my brain up. I might not be able to sleep today. The thought of this guy taking himself seriously as a singer is scary.

The second song sounded like a 1980's arcade game. Some of the guitar notes seemed to be misplayed. And then the shitty singer shows up and shits all over that horrible song. I listen to this and imagine a white dude with a cross tattoo on his forearm, a beady tribal necklase and dark red, spiked hair, SHITTING all over your guitars. Like literal poop.

when you record your vocalist do you put a shitload of reverb for his vocals in his headphone mix? his technique is bizarre, like every word he sings rises in volume and pitch. or like he can't hear himself singing or something.

also sweep picking is for fags.

That sounds like absolute shit. The vocalist is awful but even if you had Freddie Mercury in your band I think you would be struggling.

You're all hating on Penner cuz "it's the cool thing to do". Admit it. Especially you ECG, the top cool kid in class.

Just because you can't do it don't hate on me.

btw yeah he has trouble recording into a mic, he pulls back and forth way too much

i've never heard sweep picking sound good in a song tbh. it's just one of those douchey flambuoyant moves that shows how awesome you are without really adding anything musical. plus i hate yngwie and it reminds me of him.

anyway yeah i think you should stop teaching yourself wanky guitar techniques for a bit and teach yourself some more about production. the arrangements and structures of your tunes are sound but everything gets lost in the mix and just turns to slush and drops in and out. you'd be amazed at a what a bit of the ol' noise gate/compression/eq/tasteful reverb would do for your mixes if done right.

plus you could teach yourself melodyne and solve your vocalist problems once and for all.

love

also invest in a good pair of headphones and use them to mix. or good speakers. both rly. unless me who used a shitty pair of headphones and just wasted 4 weeks of my life doing shitty acoustic recordings. ugh.

seriously man, its a really rough mix with a shitty mic and fake drums

this isn't something we're selling at the local music store

we would spend the money if we're gonna do legit recordings, but these are just off my cheap amp and mixer

plus i bet youre crap at guitar

I for one, think I am a better singer than this guy (check here http://www.myspace.com/andrewpennermusic) but my band wants him so what can I do

I like "Harbouring Resentment" a lot better than the other song. Singer is not bad at all on it. Seems "on par" for that genre.

Not really "my type of music" though and the people on here are def not going to be your target audience either so whatever.

My missus just asked 'what the fuck are you listening to?'

And I really don't like the singer. Really nasal/whiny.

Well, if it is all he's got, he's one up on you. AWWWW SNAP!

All the shredding in the world won't save you if you don't have basic musicianship under your belt.

You have all the presence of a cheap MIDI sequencer. I know, I know, "lol they're cheap demos," but generic leads with absolutely no character and a vocalist who sounds like he doesn't know what he's doing?

Sorry, sweeping ain't gonna help you much, man.

All this Penner-hate gives me a monstrous boner.

only thing I "hate" about Penner is that he keeps asking for feedback and then starts in with the whole "lol i dont care" shit when he hears things he doesn't want to.

I'm otherwise fine with his cm-guzzling ways. ;)

I gave those songs a listen and while they're not as bad as some people are making them out to be, although still not brilliant in my opinion (yeah could be the quality of the recordings), there is nothing original or thought provoking about those songs. Nothing that makes me think "you know what, that was really something, I want to listen to that again". There are thousands of bands playing in bars, pubsm clubs and halls that sound more or less exactly the same as yours. The singer definitely fits your style but he goes in and out of tune frequently. There also seems to be a lack of energy.

Oh also, I completely forgot every single part of your songs seconds after it had finished. That's not a good sign for the songs.

Obviously I tried to mix it the best I could, but I basically did every single instrument except the vocals. What I'm hearing is that the recording doesn't sound pro, which IMO takes a lot of money to do.

Like what do you expect me to say to this? What "reaction" would make you happy Kane Knight?

Requiem

To me, your songs are just not memorable. As Iginfest said, I forgot all of it after it was done. There are thousands of small-time bands who probably sound just like that. But, not my genre either.
