Those that wanted to see it probably already have. Im interested in what kind of rating this brings in since the DVD has been available for awhile now.
Is this a trend that PPV's are gonna be available on free TV months later?

from what I've heard the matches will air in a music video format

I doubt it's a "trend," anyway. Wrestlemania's one event they could give away for free months later yearly and still get huge buys on.
I'm betting this is an experiment to see how well this sort of thing does.

Im sorry if I gave the impression that its the entire event. It appears its just a one hour show.
They did this last year and the year before. It's not a new concept.
And it's only done for Mania, which makes sense.

Last years was actually a fun hour of TV. I probably will skip it this year since I have beaten the good matches to death on my own plus the fact I watch about 7 to 10 hours of wrestling per week anyways.

It was pretty good last year...

Now if they'd only bring back Saturday Night's Main Event on a monthly basis...

Saturday Night Main Event is a good once a year TV special. The effort and writing that typically goes along with SNME takes time and pressure on the writers. They are already writing 8 to 10 hours worth of material a week plus PPV's I could not imagine another monthly prime time TV special.

Yeah, they've been doing this shit for the past, like 3-4 years with WM. Only thing is, is it kind of is more worth either having seen WrestleMania live and/or on PPV and/or having the DVD of the event, as they basically condense 4 hours down to 1 hour (I think) and put it to music. Sorry but it's just not my thing.

Dosent NBC have a contract with WWE that promises them so much air time per year? This seems like an easy way for NBC to get some of that out of the way.

Yeah, they do.
When was the last time they did an NBC special? They didn't do SNME this year, right?

Not that I recall, no.

The last SNME was on August 2, 2008 and that was the Jenny McCarthy Austism special. According to Wikipedia, WWE decided to air the WrestleMania Special and the Tribute to the Troops to fulfill their NBC contract instead of producing more episodes of SNME.
Ah, okay.
I knew they had at least two shows they were required to produce for NBC. I had forgotten that the Tribute to the Troops was moved to NBC.

I hope it is not going to be like the last one. When they showed WM 25 it was a just a recap show. I was very disappointed.

Just like this, except with more time dedicated to Shawn/Taker.

Why don't they just show the entire Taker/Shawn Match on NBC as the special? They can include musical recap of Wrestlemania at the start or finish.
