View Full Version : Would you be more willing to accept WWE PG if they would've done an angle around it?

Something similar to Right to Censor or The Network in ECW, or maybe something completely different.
Followup question: how would you have booked it?

I think the transition went fairly smooth as a lot of people ask the question "so when did the PG era even start..." To me that is proof that WWE struck in at the right time and made minor adjustments instead of an all out format switch.
Granted since the PG thing is now in full effect we have seen more and more things put in to place that are being given more attention. But I still think that the WWE handled the transition smoother than expected.

If you would have put in a gimmick like the Right to Censor there would have to come a time in the not too distant future where the good guys would prevail and return broadcasting to normal. In a world where it's good vs evil something this magnanimous could not be handed to the dark side in the long run.
I much prefer the smooth slow transition.

It wouldn't have necessarily had to be an evil person or group doing it. It could've been like a parental figure coming in and saying "we need to clean up this mess"

It could have worked if Vince had another mental break down and Steph/Shane came in and put their foot down.
No, I think they handled it right. It was a gradual process that accustomed fans to it until it was too late.

I also think the trans went really smooth as I can't exactly think of when the PG Era started... It is a necessary evil for now I guess...
I don't agree with the "No Blood" rule solely because I think it's healthy for kids to see that this people do get hurt whether the cut was on purpose or not... I guess they see that when people get injured anyway... Although some of the matches where the blood is gushing is a little extreme for most kids to be watching... And you know most kids are smarter than we are anyway... A little blood doesn't bother them, just look at today's video games...
Right to Sensor in the future might be a cool way to get back into say a PG-13 kind of Era, if they ever plan to do so...

I'm not talking about smooth transition. I'm talking about acceptance.

It's never gonna be completely accepted just like some people are never gonna accept the bloody side of things on TNA as Flair cuts himself open every week.

If it was an angle, it would be an angle where the heels eventually win and then everyone would have stopped watching.

I think Vince went PG because he thought it meant Penis Grabbing.

No.
They can make it WWE G or WWE NC-17, and the end result's the same. The writing, the wrestling wasn't there. I would have accepted it more with better writing, but not automatically because of a storyline.

my personal favorite era in WWF history (1992) was PG, so being PG and being shit are two completely different things, but contemporary WWE is currently achieving both.

just like in hollywood pg=more butts in seats.i think they're new company strategy is to push wrestlers from around the world more, so as to expand their global audiences.A PG rating helps that as well.

Looking at boxes, I'd say PG-13 is where the money's at.
WWE has toned itself below TV-14, the comparable rating level.
But WWE looks for sponsorships for ad revenue on a major level not quite available to most movies. I mean, there's product placement, but on WWE's level it would be in-fucking-sane.
