Say Vince dumps the PG,and decides to try and cash in on the popularity of MMA right now.He makes one of his many gimmick ppv's a total MMA event. The only difference being that there are no story lines, and they actually have real fights.Who would you like to see compete against each other?Who would kick who's a$$?,and would the idea work? i know they kind of did this with brawl for it all,but this to me would be much different.

Won't happen. He has already flopped a few MMA style matches.

Won't happen. Why would he chance hurting his talents for an iffy pay off??

No, that would defeat the whole purpose of professional wrestling.

Even if the fights were 100% legit they could never get it over as such. It would be seen as a joke by MMA fans and turn off the majority of WWE fans.

And what are they going to do? Say "this is real, our normal product is fake"?

Just bring back the Lion's Den for one match (not a whole PPV), work it and promote it as a separate style of pro wrestling. It worked with Shamrock and his feuds.

But you would need someone that it would make sense to do it with.

I agree.

WWE hasn't had a "legit" fighter gimmick in a while. They're due for one.

BigDaddyCool

Taker sort of incorporated it into his biker gimmick for a bit.

The only performer I can think of who might be able to pull it off is Kozlov. Just because of his no frills gimmick, but everyone else on the roster is encroached in the pro wrestling aesthetic.

Which isn't a bad thing if they want to maintain the "entertainment" aspect of the company. I can see how it would be good to develop one new star, out of the blue, to fill this void.

Remember how Steve Blackman came out of the crowd during Survivor Series? Fuck, just bring back Steve Blackman.

First thought when I read this thread was Brawl for All and we all know how that ended. I don't think Vince would risk his talent, not to mention it out and out sucked ass.

yeah, copying other formats has been commercially successful for WWE.

Do you guys see any major MMA guys joining the pro wrestling circuit after their careers end or hit the skids?

I mean you have wrestlers going into their fifties. Most MMA reigns at the top last 8 years max. I'm just thinking about guys like Liddel, Ortiz, and maybe even Rampage. They have the name recognition and could probably pull some UFC fans who liked their personalities or are just loyal fans of theirs over to WWE.

How many of those big name guys would be willing to learn professional wrestling that late in life and would actually be good for the business other than a few paydays.

They could always use Ezekiel Jackson when he returns.

I was actually thinking that. I could see it, but I also assume they wouldn't do it because his size and look is enough to really get him over.

In WWE logic, anyway.

Depends on how desperate they are. Making the transition from a major MMA promotion to WWE is going to be a major downer on several levels (pay, schedule, prestige).

i should have titled this "what wrestlers would you like to see compete against each other in an mma fight, and who would win".that's more of what i was going for.

He still does with his Triangle Choke and Hell's Gate.

I wonder if they could spin off NXT into some sort of MMA show that was completely seperate from WWE SD/RAW but still run by WWE. Completely separate roster of fighters, announcers and everything. I dont know how it would work or anything but you have to believe that the thought has crossed Vince's mind at some point.

Maybe could take some of the guys that aren't doing so well on RAW/SD (Kozlov, Jackson, Tarver?) and put them on to the show but the rest would be regular MMA fighters.

Wouldn't work at all. It would just further dominish the name of wrestling and put the WWE out of business. This would leave TNA top dog and that is definately not something I want to see. WWE going MMA just won't and can't happen.
