From PWInsider:
Every week for the last twenty-three weeks, I have taken a look back at the six shows from World Wrestling Entertainment, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, and Ring of Honor and compiled the times of the matches on each show. A few weeks ago, I took a look at the overall numbers for the shows. I have kept track of the longest and shortest matches each week
Last week, in my By the Numbers column, I mentioned that we reached a milestone with the shortest matches. They passed the fifty match barrier for matches that did not exceed eighty-nine seconds (in my calculations, I round down any match that is below twenty-nine seconds and round up any match thirty seconds or longer for that minute).
Here is a breakdown of the one minute matches over the first twenty-three weeks. This column will cover from the last week of February when I started By the Numbers through the end of July.
In the first twenty-three weeks, there were 576 total matches. This means that 9.2 percent of the matches that you saw on television were ‘one minute matches’. Raw had 39.6 percent of the total one minute matches, Impact had 20.8 percent of the total one minute matches, Smackdown had 18.9 percent of the total one minute matches, Ring of Honor and NXT had 7.5 percent of the total one minute matches each, and Superstars had 5.9 percent of the total one minute matches.
A total of eighty-eight wrestlers have been fortunate enough to be included in the one minute matches. In addition to the wrestlers whose names you will see below, some of the wrestlers who had one minute matches include Edge, The Undertaker, Sting, Chris Jericho, Rob Van Dam, Chris Hero, and the Briscoe Brothers.
Here is the breakdown of the fifty-three matches that qualify for the one minute matches that you see every week in the composite totals for shortest matches.
