Your thoughts on the list?

I actually like these things, especially how more than not, I completely disagree with the Top 10...... Crippler Crossface is excluded for obvious reasons..... STF at #4 is absolutely ridiculous.....

so what are your fave sumbission moves of all-time?

Three of my Top 5 aren't included in the list.

1. Cattle Mutilation - For obvious reasons given that Danielson dosen't work for the WWE.
2. Haas of Pain - Why is this not included? Mental, as it looked bloody brilliant when applied.
3. Kurt's Ankle Lock - Love the way it can be applied from so many different positions and gives match endings a lot of variance. Hate the fact that Swagger is ruining it now.
4. Walls of Jericho - Always been a favourite, huge mark for the first time I saw it applied over the top of a ladder.
5. Edgecator - Loved this, could never understand why Edge never carried on using it. My CAWS on Smackdown vs Raw would always have this as one of their finishers.

We discussed this in the 100,000 replies thread and more or less agreed that the list was good, but not good enough.

Of Course............They had to leave out the Crippler"Daniel"CrossFace

The list is pretty good. You can tell Joey Styles wrote it. And you've got to love the hard-on for Jack Swagger's Ankle Lock. The second greatest submission hold of all-time after just two months of use? That's bad-ass.

I hate WWE's lists like this. I get them politicking with them and all, but if you're going to do that, just list them in no particular order. No way the Million Dollar Dream or STF is better than the Figure 4.

Also, few people understand that the Fingerpoke of Doom is technically a submission hold.

Giving them a ranking like that allows them to put over guys like Jack Swagger, John Cena, Ted DiBiase and Chris Jericho, though. The list isn't just there to be accurate. I'm sure some of it is giving some die-hard marks more of a reason to love Cena, or fear Swagger.

A submission that I've only seen used by one wrestler and thought it looked awesome was Barry Darsow " Barely Legal"

Also loved the Haas of Pain, and Evil Doink's Stump Puller.

I think the Haas of Pain should have made it on. Somewhere towards the back, with its low ranking just being because Haas never really got to use it much. Some of the inclusions could have been bunched up together -- like there were two Camel Clutches and like two variatins of the claw hold. Just bunch that shit together, and include the Haas of Pain and Edgecator.

The one good thing I appreciated from the list was the mention of ex-WWE and present TNA employees without tarnishing them in one bit.

The Texas Cloverleaf should have been number 1.

Well they have the more popular ones at the top, can't really blame them if they decided not to have it close by the Sharpshooter. I still think that colossal clutch is a huge sham.

The Texas Cloverleaf should have been number 1.

Number 2. Right behind ARMBAR!

Haas of Pain needs to be on that list, as does the cross face.

I'm sort of disappointed the inverted figure four wasn't on that list, as HBK was using it in passing...

Also, while it would never make the list, Cattle Mutilation, Gorilla Clutch, and whatever the technical name for Austin Aries' Horns of Aries are all awesome.

Oh, and the Muta Lock.... Melina has done it in WWE I think.

Doesn't hurt his victims but it's a bitch for the audience to look at.

Pretty good, but WTF @ #16: The Brock Lock? :wtf:

Every time Lesnar used this, I wondered if he was trying to choke himself with someone's leg.

Pretty good, but WTF @ #16: The Brock Lock? :wtf:

I bought it fair and square, especially when he did it only on smaller guys.

I think the STF would hurt if it was locked on you. Believe me, I've had it locked on me it hurts. You're basically getting choked out and you cant move. I respect your opinion about the STF though.\

Favorite submission moves:
Sharpshooter/Scorpion Deathlock
Crippler Crossface
Ankle Lock-both Angle and Shamrock
Indian Deathlock

The Regal Stretch is pretty brutal to watch especially when he drives that forearm into you...Should have been higher.

Overall some of the placements were wrong but the list wasn't a total wash. Glad to see Tazzmission & Figure 4 (featuring a pic of Flair) on the list. Swagger should have been replaced by Angle, however.

While I do think Angle's is better obviously, Swagger won me over when he dragged Rey through the backstage area in the ankle lock.

That was good TV but Angle is the one who perfected the hold and has used it for a decade. Swagger has been using (stealing) it for what..a month? To put that on a top 25 of all time..especially at number 2....is stupid.

Granted it is a PRO WWE list and I know what they are trying to do...Such things sometimes are better left to a third party to get em right.

They did name Angle. What I got from it is that they were naming the moves in general, not a specific version. They just used Swagger because he's with the company, and used it to put him over a bit more. I'm sure it's number 2 for Angle in reality, not Swagger.

And the picture of the Walls of Jericho they used is fucking terrible, even when comparing it to the Boston Crab version.

He didn't even have the hold locked in yet it seemed.

So many better ones of him making the OOOoooOO face.

The Gory Special and The Jazz Stretch, don't even look like they would hurt.

Can't believe Hell's Gate is at #8. Undertaker doesn't even know how to do it.

I never liked the Ankle Lock because it seems so easy to get out of. I only like it when Angle would wrap his legs around the opponent's leg while doing it.

Mr. Nerfect
08-08-2010, 10:41 AM
I truthfully surprised that the Hell's Gate wasn't actually higher, since the move is pretty much kayfabe death to whoever Taker puts it on. I would have expected it #2 or even #1.

As much as Cena is pushed to the moon I'm surprised the STFU didn't occupy the entire top ten.
