So yeah, just watched this on netflix and it came off completely different to me than the trailer which made me think it was going to be a "fast and the furious" type film. Despite the montages and the Karate Kid premise it was actually pretty good. They even managed to pull off the Rocky/Tommy Gun finish without being retarded about it.
Post movie trailers that made you think you'd hate the movie here (as long as you inadvertently watched and liked it later).

The Crazies comes to mind as a movie that the previews didn't really give what the story was really about.
The previews made it seem like a horror film when it was more of a government psycho thriller.

I remember not being overly impressed with this trailer when I first saw it attached to some movie I went to see. I remember thinking "Pfffft. Yeah. A movie where guys beat each other up. I'm gonna go see that right away!"

Definitely agree. I even ended up reading the book first.

It's the most overrated movie in history.

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize we were talking about The Dark Knight.

Sorry but that honor goes to Avatar.

I dunno, maybe for a year or two, I remember it being everyone's favorite movie (until 300) came out.
I think it was a really fun and entertaining film though and I loved the book as much as I loved the film.
I'd say, objectively, the most over-rated movie in the history of movies is either Citizen Kane or Avatar.

Kick Ass had a terrible trailer. I heard bunch of good things from critics I like so was excited but trailer made me not excited. Glad I did see it as enjoyed the film.

I loved the Kick-Ass trailer. Probably better than the movie actually turned out to be.
