From PWInsider:

World Wrestling Entertainment has signed Ring of Honor champion Tyler Black a contract, according to multiple sources within the company. At least one WWE source has indicated that Black will be starting officially with WWE in September. I believe Black will be signing a developmental deal, but I don't have that 100% confirmed.

Black, 26, has been with Ring of Honor since 2007 and won the ROH championship in February 2010 from Austin Aries, He is also a former ROH Tag Team champion.

Black has several title defenses scheduled for September, including the 9/11 Glory by Honor Internet PPV, where he will defend against Roderick Strong.

ROH owner Cary Silkin issued a "no comment" when contacted this morning about Black signing.

Is there going to be a NXT Season 3 what with SmackDown! crossing over to SyFy?

Was more of a sarcastic quip to what they seem to do with all the awesome indy talent. I have no clue if there will be an NXT Season 3, but if there is I'm sure Tyler will be there sadly.

Now we just have to wait and see if they use him properly...which I'm hoping they do.

People have complained about the WWE misusing their "indy" talent, but I've got faith. Look what they did with CM Punk, and Danielson was being used just fine before he got let go. Kaval is looking pretty good on NXT also. Its not like they're signing him to steal him from the competition...ROH just isn't. They've got to see something in him...I'm excited honestly.

Yeah happy about this and happy for Tyler.

RIP God's Last Gift though. No way he's bringing that with him.

Well yeah, and I am too. I think it's a huge signing for them, and if used properly can definitely pay dividends. I just know that Kaval has languished in developmental for a little while now and felt he could have been called up much sooner. I also know that alot of times it's a matter of politics and don't want to see those trends continue. I'm glad he got signed and hope he does well because again I believe he can be a good draw if given the opportunity.

How about Mr Punk?

And I knew Tyler would eventually be signed to the WWE. He has a very well rounded packages or skills and will hopefully fit in well.

This is fucking great for WWE. Tyler is awesome and can definitely add something new to any show he is on. And he will get over, he's great.

Sucks for ROH but not really. Tyler being on WWE is subtle way of promoting ROH. And ROH has enough talent to fill the spot.

Just wonder how his lack of mic skills will effect him in WWE. If people thought Danielson had no charisma they've got another thing coming when they see Tyler. That said, he's incredible in the ring.

I swear to god, I fired up the NXT rookie name generator (http://www.thewrestlingfan.com/twfnamegenerator.html)and the first one I got was Miles Blackman which doesnt work. Next name was Adam Twister.

lol Miles Blackman....who would then in storyline purposes be purported as the son of...."The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman!!!

Here's what I got from the name generator:

-Duke Wilde
-Tranny Shocker
-Nolan Yellowpot
-Gunner Lummox
-Rip Harris

And one I came up with myself: Tyler White...

SIGN JIMMY JACOBS, BASTARDS.

I agree with this one hundred percent.

As far as Black goes... Meh. Put him with Punk, or bring in Jacobs, then I'll care. Black is "awesome" and can go in the ring, but by himself he does absolutely nothing that makes me care about him, besides being good in the ring. Either give him a manager who can talk, or have him be the #2 to someone like Punk, who can talk for, team with, and make Black look badass.

Didn't know Backyard Feds pay there wrestlers with PAYCHECKS god you are wrong about everything.

Secondly I think Tyler could benefit from Developmental. If this is true at all but most likely its another fabricated story from Ryan "Hobgoblin" Clark just so people pay attention to him.

Crazy, I've seen Tyler Black wrestle 3 times live. The guy can really go but I think he needs a lot of work on his in ring story telling. I agree that he could benefit from developmental though.

What kills me is this numbnuts will make a statement like this, then talk about how TNA pays their people 75 bucks and gives them t-shirts and action figures....he has no fucking clue what he's talking about and just types to hear the sounds of the keys clicking....fuck em

i'll echo many sentiments in this thread: i like tyler black a lot, due to his in ring work, he's got the look, but he sucks on the mic. that can be fixed so i see him having a bright future if he plays ball.

This is an interesting signing. He doesn't seem like the WWE's kind of guy. I guess he is great in the ring, and really young, but beyond that? I wish Tyler Black the best, though -- although he can kiss that name goodbye (unless he lets the WWE own it, which worked for CM Punk).

As for what name the WWE could give him -- I'm going to guess...Noah Cullen.

His finishing moves are "God's Last Gift" (a sick small package driver) and the Phoenix Splash, I believe. I can see him doing the Phoenix Splash to advertise himself, in the same way that Justin Gabriel gets to do the 450 and Bourne uses the Shooting Star.

I'll just give you a rundown of some of his best matches.

vs. Nigel McGuinness at ROH Take No Prisoners.
vs. Bryan Danielson at ROH Breakout.
