Impeccable

Thought I would give this a bit of a reboot. It’s basically rating a moment in wrestling history. I have already done three, some time ago, but wanted to start up again, with a renewed optimism. The scoring works like this…relive the moment through reading the overview/watching the video and give the moment four scores, Shock Value, Reaction, Memory and Legacy. I will outline these in a reply to this thread. I will work out all averages. I will give each moment a week for the ratings to come in and then post the outcome with the next moment.
Last time out was a poor showing, probably because I chose a poor moment to rate. Lex Luger slamming Yokozuna got a paltry 4.0. Guess I’ll wait a while before running the “Big Boss Man gatecrashes Big Show’s Father’s Funeral” moment.
Without further ado…
Triple H Marries Stephanie McMahon
Main Participants: Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Vince McMahon, Test
Event: Raw is War
Date: November 29, 1999
Triple H had gone through something of a change during 1999. He’d taken that step from mid card/upper mid card to Main Event. He captured his first WWF title the night after Summerslam, defeating Mick Foley in a Raw main event.
HHH embarked on a feud with a face Mr. McMahon, losing the title to Vince McMahon in September ’99. Vince immediately vacated the title, setting up a six pack challenge for the championship, which was to include the five biggest names in the WWF, and the British Bulldog. Triple H’s participation would rely on him having to win three out of five matches, set by Vince McMahon. Triple H qualified for the six pack challenge match, and won the six pack challenge itself at Unforgiven to claim the vacant title for his second WWF title run.
Triple H and Vince would cross paths continuously over the next few months, most notably when Vince found a replacement for Steve Austin in the Survivor Series triple threat title match. It was to be Big Show vs The Rock vs Triple H. Big show won when Vince counted the pinfall for the giant. Vince then told Triple H that he would NEVEr get a title shot again, thus the stage was set for Triple H to do something horrible to Vincent Kennedy McMahon.
Meanwhile, back in the spring of 1999, Stephanie made her debut appearance on Raw as part of the storyline that saw her abducted by The Undertaker and strapped to a cross in a marriage ceremony. Vince appealed for Steve Austin’s help, which Steve was only too happy to oblige (!), rescuing Stephanie, but succumbing to the Corporate Ministry’s numbers. Vince finally unveiled himself to be the higher power, telling Stephanie that his role in her abduction was “just business”.
During this time, Test took a shine to Stephanie and asked her out on a date. The one person who really opposed this was Shane McMahon. Shane, with the backing of the Mean Street Posse fought Test repeatedly over Stephanie, with Test finally winning a “Love her or leave her” match against Shane. Shane was forced to admit that Test was right for Stephanie, and accepted that the two were destined to be.
It wasn’t long before Test proposed to Stephanie. However, tragedy struck at a British event when British Bulldog entered the McMahon’s dressing room, screaming “Ah want mah tahtle shot” and throwing a bin across the room, which promptly hit Stephanie in the head, giving her amnesia, and not remembering who Test was, or their relationship. Stephanie still couldn’t quite remember, but was won over by Test who played a key role in her rehab, and Stephanie then proposed to Test, who accepted. Thus the wedding was set for November 29, 1999.
The Monday night Raw teased videos all night, showing Stephanie’s “hen night/bridal party” videos, including Mae Young and Moolah. At the end of the show, the wedding was to take place. Vince escorted Stephanie down the aisle to give her away. When the minister asked if anyone objected, Triple H made his way out, and suggested that there was something that Vince needed to see. Enough talk…let’s see that footage!
