View Full Version : Summerslam looks horrible

There are spoilers with the 7 listed matches. Sure they may add another but man this PPV is booked horribly. I predict the lowest SS buy rate in 10 years.
They want this to be the "Wrestlemania of the summer", yet the main event is Orton/Sheamus? OR Kane/Rey?
Am I wrong? I haven't been watching Raw this month, maybe the build is good but the card looks horrible.
Orton/Sheamus will be a great match if Orton doesn't injure himself again/loses temper whereas Kane/Rey has month's of storyline behind it. I personally think the card is great, and the smackdown matches announced at the tapings contribute more.

It just looks like a mess... SPOILERS
A 6 pack challenge? eck
I haven't been watching so I couldn't say for sure/don't have 'a feel' for WWE at the moment but I'd have thought Team Cena would go on last.

Why couldn't they hold off until Survivor Series for this.

Why couldn't we have a match featuring the season 2 rookies? Instead...TWO Diva matches!

Why couldn't they hold off until Survivor Series for this.
Because this will probably set up a rematch for Survivor Series. Nexus pretty much have to go over, likely by a Team WWE turncoat. I still think it will be The Miz, but who knows. By November, the match should have a totally different landscape. Cena may be a heel if he were the turncoat (doubt it, but you never know, Orton could definitely be the top face for Team WWE at this point), Triple H may return and get involved in some capacity, Daniel Bryan will hopefully be back and be involved in the angle in some role, etc.
There should be plenty of material to carry this into November at least. The SS match would probably have a stipulation attached to it whereby the Nexus would have to dissolve if they lost. They'd lose, and the lesser members will be sent down/go to SmackDown or whatever.
Exactly what he said. If I wasn't El Cheapo, I would buy this PPV.
Aside from Orton/Sheamus and the tag match I'm not too excited about it. Usually buy SummerSlam, but won't this year because of the weak card.

I think the Raw GM will play some form of part in this match.

It does look abit shit, the last couple of weeks haven't exactly been great. Not liking the kane storyline and something doesn't feel right atm about the way the nexus thing has gone, for me. Only interesting bit for me will be Orton/Sheamus/Miz
Yeah, I think I'll watch Hardcore Justice again that day.

The Big Show v. The SES is stupid. Should just be Show v. Punk. They're either going to bury/break up the SES or Show loses to three guys and nothing happens because he lost to three guys.
They need to get Ziggler, Swagger, Kofi, and The Miz on the card.

Bar WM, this is the first PPV I've been actually excited for this year. Honestly cannot wait for the Nexus match.

Anytime Randy Orton is involved I'm excited.

I am really excited for this, but I don't have as high of standards as the TPWW faithful apparently. Most of TPWW liked Hardcore Justice and I thought it was an abhorrent piece of shit.

Orton/Sheamus and the 7 on 7 are gonna be really good.
Kane/Rey doesn't really appeal to me though, because I think Swagger should be in there for a triple threat.
Yeah, I think I'll watch Hardcore Justice again that day.

Does that not mean you got higher standards?

I'm more excited for Impact this week honestly...and I already know what's going to happen on that show.

It's decent for a regular PPV card, but lacks as a Summerslam

I don't think it's missing much, it's just that a lot of the roster is dedicated to one match, and the Smackdown main event is a little underwhelming.
If Kane was facing Undertaker, and Rey was doing something else on the card, it would seem about right.
Remember that Summerslam has been the traditional venue for surprise/announced returns. That mystery GM guy could reveal himself and also be the 7th person on Cena's team, and its a given that the Undertaker situation will be revealed that night. So while it may be lacking as a wrestling event for some guys here, I maintain it will be a pretty entertaining show (I don't count in-match promo's and dance-off's as entertaining).

I think the reason the card lacks pop is that 70% of RAW has been dedicated to building one match. The title feud has taken a backseat to Nexus, and besides that there's really been nothing going on on Raw. When your biggest show builds two matches (and a diva's match, which doesn't count in my book), you're going to have what is perceived as a weak card.
Yeah, I'm feeling underwhelmed by the card atm. Hopefully they pull something decent out of the bag. I think SummerSlam was dropped in terms of its prestige over the last few years.

It also looks thin on paper but it probably won't feel that way during the show because they will get a lot of time out of the main event.
I wouldn't be suprised to see that match get an hour.

Last year had Christian vs Regal which went 6 seconds and Kahli/Kane which felt like it was never gonna end. Rey/Ziggler was awesome as the opener and the TLC match was great. The rest was average but I think overall it'll be hard for this year to match up to last year even.
