Are refurbished Asus laptops a safe purchase. There is one on sale for only $700 and it has a kick ass Nvidia Gtx 260 card.

The fact that you have not purchased, yet keep asking about laptops angers me greatly.

You can probably get one without Internet capability for damn cheap. Then everyone wins :y: (if it is your only PC).

I am moving to Pittsburgh next month and my brother asked if he could have my laptop :-\

Dunno. There are some things I won't buy used, and a computer is one of them. Though it's probably good.

Culture shock would be an understatement in your case then. This sounds like the making of a good thread to me.

It depends where you buy it and who did the refurb.

If it's in the UK and ASUS did it, then yes. ASUS are one of the accreditations we have for repair of laptops under warranty, we have had a few of their refurbished laptops and they are fine (no dodgy quick jobs etc).

However, a third-party company, that shall remain nameless just in-case we have had more problems with. Now, that may be because they bash more out, I don't know, but we do get more in.

If ASUS do the refurb they are more than likely to offer a warranty as standard too. Well, in the UK.
