View Full Version : With all this talk that someone will join Nexus...

Do you think it's at all possible we'll actually see someone turn on the Nexus team? While the Nexus has been working well together, and all that, the group is not going to last forever, and they can work just as well with six guys, as opposed to the "seven sinners" as Matt Striker calls them. Would it be more of a shock, and more productive for the guy who does turn, if we see a face turn during that match?
Honestly, that's what I feel is going to happen. Someone from Nexus is going to switch in the tag team.
Don't see the need for another thread, though.

I don't see the harm in having another thread solely dedicated to which member of Nexus would make the best babyface. Personally, I think the guy would benefit the most from it is probably either Heath Slater or Darren Young. Slater needs something to help him stand out. They've tried to get him over as a fun-loving guy, but it didn't really go beyond that. Young would make sense just for the sheer fact that he seems to be the Kenny of the group (getting destroyed by Cena all the time).
It depends on what direction WWE wants to go past Summerslam. If they want the whole Nexus invasion angle to go on till Survivor Series, it will result in 2 radically different teams fighting then. The present 7 guys on Nexus just won't cut it at this point if the summerslam match goes close when getting a decision.
Wade Barrett might no longer be the leader, that anonymous GM might reveal himself to be a player in this and Cena's team might have every main eventer on Raw bar the champion/contender for Survivor series. I don't think this will spill over to smackdown, and I don't think Nexus by itself will split up tomorrow.

The thing is, we're getting an Elimination Match at this PPV. I can't see them doing another 7 vs. 7 Match at Survivor Series. I think it's more likely we'll see the Nexus shrink in size (even if by way of some of them exiled to SmackDown!). That also makes the focus on the guys in the group more intense. If it were just Barrett, Sheffield, Tarver & Otunga kicking ass, for example, and they did it well, it'd get those guys over a lot more than if they have the extra hands of Slater, Gabriel & Young.
Nah, it will be more likely a 5 on 5 survivor style match at survivor series but the 2 groups will be radically different and look more threatening than Heath "ginger" Slater, R-Truth or Bret Hart.

I hope it doesn't happen any time soon. It would be great in the decline of Nexus, but I'm hoping that doesn't happen for a while yet. At this point, anyone could get a solid face push out of turning on/being turned on by Nexus. Even Barrett, though Nexus needs him as a mouthpiece, so they'd better either keep him or put a "manager" type on them from "behind the scenes," be it the mystery GM or otherwise.

I could live with the Nexus solely consisting of Barrett, Sheffield, Gabriel, and Tarver.

Yeah, the timing is not right at the moment, but since when does the WWE get timing right?

Yeah. Consider it wishful thinking.
Though they do seem to be thinking long term with this one. Emphasis on "seem."

yeah that would be a good 4 man stable let the other 3 become faces

Problem is, at this point the only guy whose important enough to turn face on the Nexus is Barrett himself, which would be completely ridiculous considering the last few months of storylines. If Heath Slater or Darren Young turn face, they're either going to be beaten to shit by Nexus (which does nothing to get them over), or they'll get the upper hand on the group, which would look completely ridiculous.
I agree that a babyface turn by a member would be good for them, but it needs to build. Have someone become disenchanted with the message of the Nexus, or feel like they're not getting their proper due. Ex: Gabriel goes up for the 450, but doesn't have the heart to hit it on poor defenseless Santino.
The issue with letting Danielson go is that he's the type of guy whose got the name and the fan recognition to go face tonight. He was unarguably the most over guy on the show, and him having a change of heart mid match would mean something to the fans. In fact, if he was still with Nexus, I would say that would be the route they should go. But for now though, the rest of the stable isn't "name" enough to make such an early turn.

Wait you'd rather Tarver was built up more than Gabriel. Personally, the only nexus members I actually like are Gabriel and Barrett. I don't like anyone else. Otunga is awful, Sheffield is decent for a big man but keep the mic away from him, Slater is one of the least intimidating wrestlers ever (I do think over time he will get better), and I don't know Young doesn't really bother me. He's just kind of there right now. Tarver is my least favorite though, he's sloppy and I think his mic skills are overrated.

...I've said it once and I'll say it again...I see NO REASON to have Bret Hart in this match, unless he's going to have something to do with the outcome of this match...
...and by that, I mean turn heel.

You and fifty thousand other people.
There's another reason, that being the same reason they brought him back for a feud with Vince that a dozen people cared about, or made him GM. It either involves Vince thinking Bret's still money, or a dying kid and the "Make a Wish" foundation.

I hope the group remains the same but they develop the roles a little better. Barrett is the only guy that is really anything. It would be good if two of them got together and formed a tag team and then another guy was competing for the US title and then maybe someone else was just the heavy. That's the next logical step from where they are now.

If Bret Hart goes heel and cuts promos like he did in '97, with the NeXus group standing behind him...that would be awesome.

Tarver and Sheffield definitely have the most potential outside of Barrett. The other four are the equivalent of half the guys on the NWO roster in '97... They're just there to take up space and make the group look more menacing.

actually i think gabriel has a lot of promise. just needs a character he can get into, imo he's an underrated talent all he needs to succeed is a little tweak to his look and acting lessons wouldn't hurt.... fan favorite in the making a la Matt Hardy.
Tarver can talk but sadly won't amount to anything because he lacks the in-ring skills.
Skip idk it's hard to tell he's a good group powerhouse but i think he will get lost in the shuffle on his own like Knox did
Hate slater
Hate Otunga
Darren Young just no

That's why I think he needs the group. He serves his role in it well. You watch what he's doing, and it covers his sloppiness a little. I don't think Tarver would survive on his own. Gabriel is my favourite Nexus member, bar none, but I think he's got a shot at making it on his own. Or, say, in a tag team with Heath Slater on SmackDown!, feuding with their formers pros, Matt Hardy & Christian.

I'd like to see them start going for championships, too. Wade Barrett is obviously going to be their main event guy. Skip Sheffield seems like a natural choice for the heavy. Justin Gabriel, being the solid worker that he is, could seemingly fit in a tag team. Perhaps with Heath Slater? David Otunga is still too green to be a champion, in my opinion, so I'd have him stand back as a sort of "mind" for the group. Michael Tarver is a bit sloppy, so I'd go with Darren Young as the guy chasing the US Title. He's also got that thing where he was the winningest guy on his season of NXT.

Can see it being one single person that turns their back on them it will be a group ie. Gabriel, Slater, Young and dare I say a returning Daniel Bryan which could easily set up a match at Survivor Series.
