1. multiple concussions.
2. a stroke that had left hi with permanent damage
3. 10 years out of the ring.

Bret Hart may never be as great as he was but he still can go better than most guys his age!

I love Bret. And even though he looked pretty decent in the ring at Summerslam, I wish they'd stop putting him in matches. Finding excuses for him to not bump during his matches is getting really contrived. Or keep him in a match where he doesn't have to be eliminated. A tag match where he gets to come in once or twice, have some hot offense and leave the people happy? Perfect.

Bret > Hogan & Flair combined, in the ring at this time....

Gotta disagree dude. Flair's match with Lethal was better than anything Bret could do at this point.

I was impressed with Bret at Summerslam, but that's really only because the bar was so low after Mania. They need to keep him away from competition.

He was very slow but didn't look sloppy or completely incompetent. I'm very surprised.

He looked EXTREMELY winded and out of breath.

I was VERY surprised with Bret's output at Summerslam.
If it wasn't for the stroke, man...Bret would still be able to go.

Bret was decent for his condition at Summerslam. With that said, I'll take Flair over him sadly... At least Flair can bump.

Flair hasn't had a stroke...
...Flair hasn't had a stroke, and still there are people who prefer to see The Hitman...THAT'S sad.
But Flair's become a bright haired flabby rag doll that flips and flops and flabs around the ring and yells.

Ric Flair needs to wear a bra when he wrestles.
I don't know how Spike gets away with showing breasts on tv. The FCC is NOT doing its job.

You also should take into account the psycological stuff, such as "Montreal" (if you aren't of the mind that it was a work) and the LOSS OF HIS FREAKIN' BROTHER (among other family members)! Including the initial list made by MAC, any ONE of those things individually could cause someone of lesser resolve to hang it up for good.
Agreed that he isn't moving around like Steamboat against Jericho. Still, it may not be up to what he's remembered for, but in spite of it all, even with his limitations, the man can still go both on the mic and in the ring... and STILL do it better than some who are 100% healthy and half his age.
For that, he deserves a standing o.

Greatest survivor would have to go to HBK. After everything, NY beat down, including back surgery, pill addiction, burning bridges with mostly all of the boys, etc. etc. etc., and being gone for x amount of years and at 40 still being able to go better than most of the current roster(s) in any federation.

I disagree with you YoungFlyFlashy,
1. multiple permanent concussions is far worse than a pill addiction which you can be re-habbed out of.
2. a stroke that had left him with permanent damage is worse than a back injury.
Bret Hart has had it far worse than HBK. Only the most blinded fanboy would disagree with that
