View Full Version : If it doesn't look painful...

should you really be using it in a match?

I know only idiots use 'em but, I gotta know, does anyone think hitting someone with one of these looks particularly painful?

I know it hurts but, seems like a chair would hurt worse...hell, a sleeper would probably be more effective.

I'm guessing the shards are the things that are actually dangerous, but I think the main reason for using them is their breakage! It has a cool factor to it, when you make something shatter across someone's back.

I'd say if you gotta use lights, use lava lamps! That's sure to hurt... and it'll look freaky if it breaks :P

Well the mercury/phosphorous if present in them might end up being more dangerous than anything else.

Glass lights do look painful. Just not in the same way. broken glass can shred skin, like that above video the Pope posted.

However, the hit across the knee looked stupid and he's retarded for selling that.

BTW, if blood covering your face is a crimson mask, what is that? A crimson cape?

Crimson Cape lol

Also, Vampiro told the ref "Not in the Back" so thats why he hit his legs the next time.

Well, a pile of broken glass always looks painful. Still, getting hit with a light tube never looks bad to me and I know it's supposed to be pretty painful...

Barbwire must be pretty hard to come by these days.

IWA uses light tubes as well, there are better videos out there. But is the first one I found.

I would think that the initial break of the tubes is what hurts the most, then the landing on the shards of course would just rip ya up.

That was pretty brutal with Vampiro and Mesias. This type of wrestling isn't necessary anymore and is more staged than AJ's flip flops.

Wrestling is best left in the hands of people who try to tell a story with their physical being. Including dangerous yet unrealistic weapons into a match for the "ohhhh" effect is lame way of taking the easy way out.

How could the tubes beat a properly built up stand off between two guys who hate each other? Are they going to take the time to bring wrapped up light tubes to a match, or would they just beat the shit of of the other guy with their fists like a normal person?

Hardcore wrestling, like that, is completely ridiculous and disgusting, IMO.

There's no reason that two guys who are just out there booked in a match would want to bring their opponent to within an inch of their life, thats just not realistic with 99% of wrestling characters. There's room for weapons, blood, etc in matches, but there needs to be a rhyme or reason behind why some guy is pummeling his opponent with a baseball bat. I have no problem with a guy blading, or even the once-in-a-blue-moon type nasty spots, but it needs to make sense in the story.

Plus, some of the more extreme shit with light tubes, thumb tacks, etc is just unnecessarily dangerous. You can get your point across without involving things that can fuck someone up so easily.

I'm sure the light tubes they use aren't regulation ones like most objects are heck the mercury in the real ones can actually be very harmful especially if you were to have open wounds.

Yes the IWA video is pathetic, quite possibly the worst "wrestling" I have ever seen, they look like yarders doing the moves for the first time.

I was just too lazy to look for a better video.

I seriously doubt these indy feds have to money for "safe" weapons, they go to the hardware store and pick up what they need.

Wow, two skinny guys who don't work out or belong in a ring using light tubes to make a name for themselves like the hundred other guys that did that last weekend. I hope they're having fun destroying their body because if they keep it up they're going to be spending every shift of theirs at Wendy's in pain.

Jordan

In their defense, if you worked at Wendy's, ran out on your girlfriend/wife and kids, smashing somebody with chairs and tubes, going through tables and tacks, might be a fun way to let out some stress.

Addressing the original question, I don't think the impact of the shot is supposed to hurt, the multiple wounds and blood loss is the effect of the move.

Also, If done on a very rare basis, I don't have that big a problem with the glass. The Mesias/Vampiro video, while grusome, also shows that a lot of people paid money to see that match. Therefore one could justify such a move.

The IWA video has no defense at all.

Pretty sure these are spot on. Fuck you Brock for pushing CZW around here like 1000 people before you have. It's all been said before. It's not wrestling, and people like you just don't get it.

CZW have put on their fair share of quality wrestling, it just mostly gets overshadowed by the garbage stuff.

Jordan

Come on, those guys don't go to the gym, I am bigger than they are. Sure they can slip flop and do a highly choreographed sequence of holds and counters, but shit so can I.

Pro Wrestler's should be different than the audience, bigger, better, and more entertaining.

These guys that are smashing bricks on their heads, wrapping themselves in barbed wire, getting third degree burns, slicing open their foreheads ever weekend, using tubes, tacks, knives, forks, and other garbage... the next day these guys are serving your burger and fries at the drive through, tearing your ticket at the movie theatre, and suggesting a lame title at Blockbuster.

They are not talented, they are not professionals, and sure they may enjoy what they are doing but bottom line is that kind of behavior is not a step forward for wrestling, in actuality it's a step back for mankind.

I understand that some people that I have just described post on this forum, and I understand that is the reason why this place is in the darkest shits it has ever seen. However, here is my message to you...

When you grow up, and look at your lives and see that you are a fan of "Garbage Wrestling" how could you explain to your kids how this is cool?

Light tubes have no right to be near a wrestling ring unless it's used for lighting.
And if you didn't get it the first time...

LIGHT TUBES HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE NEAR A WRESTLIGN RING UNLESS IT'S USED FOR LIGHTING!!!!!

There is a reason it is called garbage wrestling. It's cute that "peoople" (using the term loosely) think that CZW, IWA, and their ilk are actual promotions. They look like a group of inbreds watcing some retards trying to hump a doorknob.

Finally, a wrestling question Destor's qualified to answer.

The worst part is CZW wasn't the first and isn't the worst. It just got attention here because some dipshit was insisting it was the #2 promotion, and that the guy who works at Blockbuster was the greatest wrestler eer.

When I first signed up here, a lot of people actually loed the excessive hardcore of this sort of bullshit. I'm pretty sure I was in the minority in terms of hating garbage wrestling, or at least vocally so. I'm glad it changed, but a lot of people were al about it being "real" wrestling.

CZW have put on their fair share of quality wrestling, it just mostly gets overshadowed by the garbage stuff.

To be fair, they promote (or promoted, I haven't seen much on them of late) with a real violent angle. Unless theyé changed, they kind of have themselves to blame there.

Oh if Zandig would have had his way when he was running the show, they probably would have put on nothing but garbage 'wrestling', ditto the new guy since he's the same kind of 'wrestler'. At the same time they probably have a regular audience of bloodthirsty clowns that want to and will pay to see that stuff, which to an extent I can understand.

My comment is mainly for the people that have never seen any of the shows but will slate the company as a whole because they saw a video or saw somebody else say the same thing. I haven't seen CZW regularly for years but even back then it was far from being all garbage and has a lot of stuff similar to places like ROH, Dragon Gate etc. Plenty of people on here bum (or pretend they do whilst having never actually seen one of their matches) the likes of Danielson, Punk, Evan Bourne, MCMG, Hero, AJ, Claudio, Daniels etc and all of these guys have wrestled for CZW.
