View Full Version : What's next for Charles?

So Chuck Liddell apparently has had his last fight in the UFC. I honestly think he should get his final fight with Tito, and a rematch with Rampage. What if Dana White doesn't let him fight? Will he burden their friendship and business relationship by jumping to Strikeforce? What if he wins the Strikeforce light heavyweight title? That'd only mean good things about the UFC's Light Heavyweight division, as someone considered past his prime in UFC could win their biggest competitor's championship.
What does everyone else think/hope is the next installment in the Chuck Liddell saga?
I'd like to see him fight Tito but I'm pretty sure Tito would win. And with how much Chuck hates Tito and the fact that a prime Chuck kills/killed prime Tito every time, I just don't think it's a good idea in 2010.
And if he fought Rampage, I think he might actually get killed. Not just knocked the fuck out, I fear he may never actually wake up again. Rampage's power hasn't gone anywhere and Chuck got murdered when he still had something resembling a chin. As I said, he may actually die. I just wanna see him make appearances, sit in the crowd, maybe even coach some more TUF down the line providing there's no coaches fight at the end (Chuck vs. Randy as coaches on TUF in a few years when they're both done? Why not.)

He'll end up fighting again for Strikeforce or in Japan. Dont see him walking away.

Rampage would utterly destroy Chuck right now. The dude needs to walk awya.

I'd like to point out that there is no point to another Rampage fight as Rampage has already beaten him twice.

he should retire with whatever dignity he still has. One more fight with Tito.
Tito was supposed to go to Strikeforce, but he probably realized it would've made him look even more of a has been by being part of Strikeforce.

Retirement unless he wants to die in the octagon for sure.

probably need to let him get the last tito fight out of his system, but really i just see him as being one of those guys who can't let go. kinda like ric flair. he's totally punch drunk, he's been left behind by the new generation of MMA fighters, and he's not anywhere near fighting for the belt.
that said, i'd lump tito and rampage in the left behind category too. rampage could probably pull it back but from grapevine information i've heard it doesn't seem his heart is in it anymore, and his attitude to strength and conditioning is awful.

He should fight James Toney. I'd watch it just to watch The Iceman maul Toney into the cage and punch his "lights out". Now, that would be entertainment

Chuck Liddell would probably try and stand with Toney and get knocked out with a jab.

Maybe Liddell Couture 3??
Couture has looked better than Chguck as far as dominant victories over the past few years (minus Chuck/Wanderlai)..

is this because of what i said in the other thread?... the only way for that fight to end and for it to mean anything in terms of affirming your belief that randy shis gold is if he were to take chuck down and outclass him from there by either getting the tko or sub. If he catches chuck on the feet with a strike, it says more about chuck than anything else and well got forbid randy loses to chuck again. and it would be liddell couture 4

Don't question my knowledge, big guy..
I meant 4..
As I see it, both fighters are at the end of their (UFC) career, atleast as far as fighting goes.. It would be a big money fight and win lose or draw, either fighter could still come back after for a match or two..
Liddell is alot more timid now than the 2nd and 3rd meeting in that he has lost 4 of the last 6 fights in devastating fashion.. He also looked like a shell of his former self against Jardine.. Wanderlei was his only win and the only time he looked to be at the level he once was when he was dominating 205.. And IMO that was the 5 years of pent up aggression towards him since 2004 and when he went to Japan to fight him and lost to Rampage..
You seem to think I am some bandwagon Couture fan who likes him cause of what he has done in the past 3 years since his return.. Just an FYI, but I was pulling for Couture in all three of the previous fights with Liddell..
I just think that both of them are near the end of their competitive careers and that is only one of the few big money fights left...for either of them..
You really want to put Chuck in there against Rampage or Rashad or Machida?? He would get destroyed..
You really want to put Randy in there against Lesnar, Carwin, or Dos Santos?? He would prolly get murdered..

i want randy to fight some of the better guys at 205 such as switching the guys you put up for chuck.... maybe even mir
Kris P Lettus

Randy vs Mir would be awesome..
You think Couture could still hang with guys like Rampage, Machida, or Rashad?? You said yourself, he looked pretty bad against Vera (and I agree).. I think it's better at this point to get a few more "big money" fights out of him and then make him the third commentator with Goldy and Rogan, rather than waste fights with title contenders on him.. I mean, he'll never be at that level again.. Not saying he couldn't beat any of those guys but that won't elevate him any more than he already is and could be detrimental to any of those fighters, if he did beat them..
Just makes sense to me..

Well hes the same size as them so thats a plus to him. Rampage would be a make or break because it would either send rampage packing or breath new life to his career.
machida presents a style randy has never faced and machida has neve faced a style like randy so that would be interesting too. Plus while machida can finish fights, he doesnt posses the physicality to dominate randy and really hurt him.
I wouldnt really want to see him against rashad so much.
Kris P Lettus

Rashad is the most dangerous of that bunch IMO.. He could out wrestle Machida and Rampage (even though Hendo couldn't :( ) but Rashads quickness and athleticism would def be problematic to him..

hendo couldnt out wrestle shields.... the difference is hes a grecco guy that sucked at normal wrestling. His clinch game was great cuz he could launch people, but he was completely inept at shooting at the legs and even had trouble defending shots.

but yea, rashad is a stronger, faster, and more dynamic form of randy
