View Full Version : How much of NXT is scripted?

I've had a hiatus away from WWE for a year and today I've been looking up on NXT, I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on what was legit and what was not?

I'm most curious about the pros polls and whether they are actually the genuine feelings of the pros towards the wrestlers.

I was also curious about the treatment of Daniel Bryan during the show, he lost all his matches but was obviously very skilled and came first in the 'pros polls' but then was eliminated by 'WWE Management'? What was that about?

The polls are 50% fan and 50% pros, so they're obviously kayfabe. But it does give them a good idea of who is over with the fans at that time. And I think some of the pro's real opinions do come out on the show, but for the most part I assume they're told to either build, bury or be "meh" about who they're talking about.

Danielson lost all his NXT matches (won one on RAW), but always had a VERY strong showing and awesome matches. He was eliminated by management because he said that he was the one who deserved to be eliminated.

The pro's opinions are mostly real but that's about it.

I would say the rookie promos are definitely unscripted.

The matches and maybe most of the challenges would be scripted but then again almost all the challenges had nothing to do with NXT or wrestling to begin with.

I would say the rookie promo's are unscripted...but I think the pro's polls are rigged and the fans are ignored. Because we all know that Vince doesn't care what the fans think, he's all about the mmoooonnnneeeyyyy

I think it's all scripted to an extent. The rookies probably wing their promos on the fly but still know their topic ahead of time. With the other challenges I'm sure they know who is supposed to win so everybody else has to intentionally lose/do crappy (or if you're Titus O'Neil, stumble over).

Fan vote likely means nothing, but it makes for good storylines. If they actually DID count fan votes, it is probably only reflected in the mid-range guys with WWE knowing who they want to have in certain spots

Not much, just everything.

Do you REALLY think WWE and Vince McMahon would let the FANS decide who stays and who goes? Do you REALLY think that they would let the FANS decide the direction the company is going to go based on VOTING?

...come on.

Whoever believes this, I'm sure ALSO thought that fans REALLY decided what matches WWE would put on Cyber Sunday and Taboo Tuesday...

...or whatever it was called.

WWE still gets to choose.

If the fan vote counts for anything, it's at least heavily influenced by the company who the fans should be voting for, just like whenever they do a Cyber Sunday/Voter's Choice event. I remain skeptical that the fan votes are even counted, though.

It's quite obvious what's happening right now.

All of it is real.... some of it is played off of real-life observations (Pros opinions on Rookies)... but all the promos and crap are real

This basically, only not so condescending. Each NXT season is basically a reality TV storyline, not actual reality TV. The fact this question is being asked means they're probably doing something right.

It's like developmental aka FCW on tv. But with pretty messed up wrestling names and an annoying buzzer when time is up.

I had a pointed opinion on the matter and a partial quote from Xero, but I got screwed by my browser again.

My point was going to be that there has to be an element that isn't 100% scripted. If it were a conventional call up, Lucky Cannon would be the guy they got behind, shot vignettes for, pushed, then he would have flopped, and WWE management would scratch their heads and wonder why the crowd wasn't buying him. This gives them the chance to test the waters with various people to see who gets over and shows the potential to get over with several people at a time.
