View Full Version : Could Barrett be the one?

While watching the 900th episode or Raw Monday I noticed something during the Bret vs Taker match. When Nexus attacked Taker during the match, something stood out to me. Something about the way Barrett looked standing over Taker, it just seemed right. I know Barrett really hasn't been established completely as a top guy, but the WWE make him come across as someone who they are serious about investing in. This youth movement that is happening right now is all good and fresh, but I think they are going to have to start doing something drastic to establish these guys as top contenders. I think having Barrett end Undertakers streak is the right way to go to make him a star.

Why?

Like the Undertaker is going to say, "Ok, have this rookie beat me" Not gonna happen.

I'd love to see it just for how obscure it would be. Especially if the Nexus are still together by Wrestlemania and there is a huge beatdown that let's Barrett steal the win.

Someone has to beat him. I'm talking about a year or two away as well, when taker is ready to retire.

Can't see that happening.
No one has to "beat" Taker at this point. If they were going to have him lose, they'd have given it to Michaels. After the Michaels series, there's no way anyone beating Taker could be believable other than Cena.

If Barrett stays healthy, and stays in the good graces of management for a year or two, I see him being huge. I totally believe a strapping young Barrett could beat old man, wore down Taker a year or two from now. I've always believed wrestlers going out should do so on their back, so I expect someone to end his streak.

I thought that I have heard before that Taker doesn't want to put over an established star, but someone that he feels is ready to take that next major leap to the spotlight.

I hope that is true, as I believe it would be a waste to let someone already established(ala Michaels) to end his streak. Taker always struck me as someone who would put the business over before himself. So I think if asked to drop the streak, he would do it.

I could see him doing it. Not clean but still.

IF they were to end it (which I don't see happening, just because of how much they've been burned in the past by guys coming up) Barrett would surely be up there.

Yeah that is the tricky thing that I could believe is making them hesitate about ending the streak. Imagine if Lesnar had ended the streak, or worse yet Kurt Angle. I still believe though they have to chance it at some point, and it may come down to whoever they think they can trust the most inside the company.

If The Undertaker's streak isn't broken to put somebody over for life, then what was the fucking point of it? To help a guy who has been way over for 20 years stay even more over? Pointless.

Someone HAS to beat him?
Uhh...NO.
If HBK didn't get the nod to go over 'Taker after trying TWO TIMES...there's no way Mark Callaway would let anyone else beat him.
Do not see them beating Undertaker at all at Wrestlemania. I could however see Barrett winning the WWE title at mania this coming year, especially if they unify the two belts. That would be a hell of a way to elevate Wade Barrett into the next long term star in the main event picture permanently.
I actually think Barrett will be one of the next mega stars in WWE. He certainly has the talent and I will say that in a point in time in wrestling where I DVR all the wrestling shows and fast forward through most of the entire shows, I always watch Wade Barrett's matches and promos.
He'll be really big in WWE.

What would have been the point of HBK beating him? I don't think Taker is like that, and when it comes down to it it really isn't his decision. I'm sure though his input will go a long way into choosing who ends his streak though.

They have given "The Streak" too much importance to have him lose. It's like in a baseball game, when it's the 6th inning and u notice a player has a Perfect Game going on...even if he allows 1 hit and still wins, it's ok, but it's not A PERFECT GAME...it's a bit of a letdown.
So it's not the same to have The Undertaker go into The Hall of Fame undefeated at WrestleMania, then to have him go in with 1 loss.
So he'll never lose.

If he agrees to be Vince's WWE man behind Cena, I could see it.

I look at Barrett and for some reason he reminds me of a young Triple H.

Nah I don't care if it's the whole collective of Nexus that facing him at WM in the end Undertaker will always win I'm sure that this was part of his contract agreement all along.

It really depends. There is no doubt in my mind that The Undertaker's streak should end, but it just comes down to who. In some ways, I think it would be best if Taker got to pick who he put over at Mania. He's suggested Kane in the past, but the time has arguably been and gone for that, and Kane has said that he doesn't want that.
Taker needs to groom someone he believes has both loyalty to the business, and is someone that can put asses and seats, and give them perhaps the greatest honour currently in the business -- being the guy to beat The Undertaker at WrestleMania. If Taker likes Barrett enough, why not him?
