Joey Styles really laided into Mike for leaving ECW, but can you really blame Awsome? I have read from several ECW superstars that ECW was a complete mess by the end. They said that wrestlers werent geting paid, wrestlers were missing shows or would show up drunk and /or high. No matter how much I enjoy my job, if I'm not getting paid and somebody offers me the same job plus growth potental it's a no brainer.

Jumping from ECW to WCW was like jumping from a sunken ship on the bottom of the ocean to a sunken ship half-way to the bottom of the ocean.....

But that second sinking ship had treasure he could steal before it completely sunk.

He wasn't pissed Mike Awesome left, he was pissed that Mike Awesome left without dropping the ECW World Championship which Awesome at least owed to the company that made him something in the US.

When Mike Awesome passed away in February 2007, Lance Storm revealed the truth behind Mike's departure, during his blog remembering Mike. Mike did not want to sign a contract with ECW, until he was owed overdue wages (which was the problem with ECW at that point). So, Mike signed with WCW, because it insured family security, if nothing else.

Awesome did the right thing, he took the money. He didn't owe ECW anything, he could have got a job in WCW or WWE without working in ECW. He was a huge star in Japan and he obviously had the ability. I don't fault him at all for leaving when he did.

yea, I agree with this. The man didn't work for free. If a company is not goign to be loyal to you, then you don't need to be loyal to them

Years later.

Taz leaving was when ECW's writing and wrestling turned to shit. As a fan of ECW I have to admit that even I stopped watching.

that awesome angle might have been the best in ecw history work or shoot it involved nitro then goes to ecw and ended on raw 3 rival companys working togather. awesome should have been praised on one night stand.
