It's a kata-ha-jime, which without going too heavy into it, pushes against the carotid artery. Being a blood choke, it's extremely effective when applied properly, knocking a person out in less than 10 seconds. Apply the choke on any longer and you're further starving the brain, risking serious damage or death.

I would be amused to see a list of 'deadly chokes' and 'non-deadly chokes'.

I don't think a DDT would hurt anyone in real life. I mean, that's what I learned from John Cena. Isn't that true? Have I been deceived?

Futureshock DDT. Think about it, you get their head under your arms enough and drop all your weight down, the person's head is gonna meet hard ground.

That's about the only legit submission move I can think of to be applied in a street fight. This includes variations as well.

People have used the figure 4 leg lock to torture enemy combatants to get info off them, but I doubt you can do it in a street fight. :shifty:

You misunderstand the point of this thread. I'm talking about moves that have basically been turned into mid-match moves at best. In a match there are all sorts of moves that won't even get you a 2 count but, in real life would end a fight legitimately in seconds.

This isn't about how awesome match finishers are cool to see in a brawl...completely different thread.

Ya, in fact its usage was so popular at one point that former soldiers-turned-novelists used it as a device in many books. Robert Ludlum comes to mind immediately, for one.

Sleeper hold should always be countered by jaw-breakers.

VSG
09-20-2010, 10:11 AM
What if the assailant is behind the target and pulling the target's head behind as he applies the sleeper? Unless the target manages to twist around and use the hands or the feet, it is tough to get out. If the assailant manages to hook the sleeper around one of the target's arms in a Tazzmission variant, it gets all the more difficult.

Not off-topic at all. Yes, it was treated as a "finisher" but, kicking someone in the temple would definitely end a fight in real life. I just don't see someone just sitting there for the long drawn-out set-up.
