What do you believe is the greatest console of all time?
I vote SNES. It is what I grew up playing and it had so many classic games.

a modified wii is incredible, and capable of playing any game, other than those on PS2/PS3/any x-box.

But, since that's not what you meant... SNES. this isn't even a contest.

I went with NES as my personal pick, thought about it and regret it (it's still my personal favorite, but not the greatest).

In terms of the greatest variety, quality and size of the library, I have to give it to the PS2. It's an amazing console with so many amazing games.

PS1, without it we'd still be playing games on cartridges.

I have to say SNES, I am not a Nintendo fanboy by any means. Just the system is what I grew up on and it has loads and loads of excellent games for it.

I might buy one again to play all the old school games on a system and not an emulator.

Loved games such as Aladdin, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Super Black Bass, etc.

Next on the list I would have to say is the PS2, so many games, so many excellent titles and so much time spent playing. This system is home to VC, San Andreas, God of War, etc.

After that is likely a tie between the Genesis and the N64.

Personally it was the N64 for me since that had the most enjoyment and fun from it.

Sales-wise, the PS2 due to selling 140+ million consoles even if a good percentage were defective in the initial years.

Actual console wars-wise, it probably would be between the SNES and Genisis since its still considered the greatest gaming generation and the toughest when both Nintendo and Sega truly hated each other similar to WWF hating WCW around the same period.

I had to vote for the NES. It was the first system I ever owned and grew up playing on. SNES was pretty cool, I've actually enjoyed all consoles I've owned over the years.

I never really liked the PS1. It did have some quality games in FF7 and THPS but I really hated the low-rez 3D graphics capability and much preferred 2D games on the Saturn, especially the fighters with the RAM cart upgrade. Eased load times and made everything that much smoother.

Personally, I love the shit out of my xbox 360, but that's because I'm an adult and the only way I get my fun nowadays is through video games.

The Playstation revolutionised the industry and put it where it is today, so it gets my vote.

It definitely isn't the best of all time, but my personal favorite is the N64. That's the console I've played the most. I was starting to get a bit older, so I spent many nights with friends over just playing Goldeneye or WCW/nWo Revenge. There was also Ocarina of Time, which I must have completed a dozen times or so. Super Mario 64 too.

Even though i've switched teams to the xbox / 360, those evenings that turned into early mornings playing FF 7/8/9 and Resident evil 1/2/3 swung it for me.

The Dreamcast was an amazing machine tbh. But still the Mega Drive is mine. Loved the PSX though. Nothing will beat the amazement of my mate and me in PC world watching Ridge Racer and then actually playing it when the kid finished his turn. We was like "OMFG GRAPHICS!"

How can anyone who played SNES as a child, not vote for it.

Like I know N64 had OOT, Goldeneye etc. But how about the games that set the baseline for these and future games? LTTP, Chrono Trigger, Mario World, Secret of Mana, The Final Fantasy Series. Donkey fucking Kong country which is being remade for the Wii because that's how good it is, EVEN NOW. Mario kart... yeah NES did start some of those, but I did not enjoy blowing into cartridges praying they'd load up.

The only memorable thing I remember about the PSX is how much time I'd sit there and stare at the word "loading" and listen to my little cousin who didn't know the meaning of the word say things like "i hate loading, I wish there was no such thing!". Well that and it's shitty graphics. Who cares if it was the most popular disc system at that time, it really doesn't mean much.. I'm sure if there was no PSX we'd still be playing game on optical discs.

If you voted for PS2 I can sort of understand that, but still.. come on.. this is not a debate

Yeah I think it was Sega Cd.

Who could forget the Phillips CD-I back in 1991?

IT EVEN HAD MARIO AND ZELDA GAMES!!!*

*these games were huge piles of shit

Definitely the N64.

Star Fox 64, Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Fucking Time, WCW/nWo Revenge, WrestleMania 2000, No Mercy, Banjo-Kazooie, Super Mario Kart (still fun to bust out and play and get drunk with friends), Mario Party, Super Smash Brothers, Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark... the list goes on. And as much as I loved my SNES, the replay value on the games I loved for that system today are kind of weak. I'd much rather pick up and play Star Fox 64 than I would Super Mario World or Sunset Riders.

So if it's not "personal" choice, but in general, gotta go with the PSX. It fucking came on massively when you compare it to what it had before. The Megadrive / SNES (with FMV on MEGA CD!).

Sega CD came out in '91 in Japan. '92 in North America so yeah, I guess you could say the CD-I was the first disc console.
