What do you think of it?
Doesn't sound right for a wrestling show at all to me. I don't think I could ever even accept it as anyone's theme.

It seems a bit out of place at the start of the intro. But I think it's goes well from when you see Alberto Del Rio, onwards. Also, I love the new SmackDown graphics. :y:

I was a bit surprised that they chose a Green Day song and I originally wasn't pleased with it, but I'm sure it'll grow on me over time. Just like the theme changes of Raw, SmackDown, ECW and other shows did before it.
The only reason the majoirty of people don't like it and are saying it sucks is because it's new. We're all like that when something changes suddenly. Especially with themes. I remember people saying how they hated "Across The Nation" when it debuted as Raw's theme, but now, alot of people love it and say it's one of Raw's better themes, behind "Thorn In Your Eye" and "We're All Together Now".
So I'm just going to give it a try and I'm sure most of us will comes to accept it and maybe even enjoy it over time.
My problem is that I associate wrestling with harder rock, not this alt punk shit. Doubt I'll ever truly like it, but they will likely mix it over the next few weeks to see how it fares.
Wild and Young wasn't a song I really liked and wouldn't consider a wrestling theme, but it worked and meshed well with how they used it. If they can do that with this, then cool, but I doubt it.

Pretty good intro and nice beat. I think it's pretty cool that WWE was able to get Green Day for a theme though.
The theme could be better, but it could be a whole lot worse. I agree that people on the IWC just hate things that are new and are reluctant to change. Then they complain that there isn't any new stars.

It doesn't fit the show as well as some other songs may, but I don't get all the hate for Green Day.

Also, you have to consider the WWE's target audience.
Kids, women and kids entering their teens.
Alt Punk is all good for them, especially the latter. Papa Roach and Nickelback are other examples. Their music appeals to them, a lot of the WWE's target audience, are also fans of theirs and Alt Punk.
Marilyn Manson and The Union Underground and the Hard Rock genre may been seen as "too rough and angry" or whatever by the WWE for their target audience.

Hate the band, hate the song but for some reason love it as the Smackdown theme. I was getting sick of all the generic hard rock themes for the shows.

I completely agree on the demo. But still, I don't hear Green Day and think "wrestling", nor will I ever.
It's a different time, I get that. It just doesn't feel right, even in this time.

i appreciate that they're trying to bring the production values up to closer to what they are on RAW but i can't believe that went with this awful green day song.

Love Green Day, but not that song.
Clearly should have been Welcome To Paradise.

I have no issue with the new SmackDown! theme. They could have gone with something much better, but also as numerous others in this thread have pointed out, they could have gone with something much, much worse as well.

If they were gonna chose a Green Day song, I think Dookie would have been more appropriate if you're taking "creative" (using the word VERY loosely) into consideration.

To be fair, it's better than whatever the Raw theme is.
WWE finally uses a band that is not generic hard rock/Nickelback/Saliva and everyone freaks out.
new intro is pretty good, actually. song itself isn't my cup of tea, but it's not as bad as what everyones going on about

WWE's been very hit or miss with most of their shows and PPVs music although I do agree with Cool King in how the song fits much better at the Del Rio point and onward.

Absolutely hated it the first time I saw the open, but now I just dislike it. I think I would like it more if it were just the instrumental. Billy Jo Armstrong's voice ruins it, IMO.

It was feautured in one of the NHL games I think and I couldn't stand it then and I still can't stand it now annoying as all hell even for Green Day standards which isn't much of a stretch.

anything is better than RAW's theme
Meh, could be a lot worse. Could be a lot better but hey, it's a theme for a TV show. The other 98% of wrestling fans probably couldn't care less.

Don't like it, but it will probably grow on my like that Papa Roach and Nickelback song did on RAW. It is still better than that first theme they used when SmackDown! moved to MyNetworkTV.
I hate it. And I don't hate it just because "it's new," I hate it because it doesn't fit professional wrestling. I might buy an older Green Day song or something different with a little more edge and anger and drive, but this is almost pop. WWE hasn't chosen a decent theme song for RAW or SD! in a long time.

It's the oddest choice for a Smackdown opening theme since they had 'The Beautiful People'.

agreed. Yeah I made a thread about this a while ago. Best SD! theme ever, made wrestling look hip and fresh which went well alongside the great talent at the time (2003)
It felt like it was the newblood of professional wrestling

Never liked this theme because I felt they only made it to sell the ghetto/rap tv show UPN wanted them to shill for Friday Nights.
The best Smackdown theme song ever was the Beautiful People or the original. I also liked the Rise Up theme song better than the theme song above.
