View Full Version : Invent some new gimmick matches that WWE could use

REALISTICALLY, what kind of gimmick matches do you think WWE could use today, since all current gimmick matches has been done already in some shape or form

Could totally see WWE inventing some kind of Double Dare obstacle course as a match.

Asian Spike Match (WWE never used it)

I'll probably get Judy Bagwell flamed for this, but I really miss the "on a pole" type matches. I know that that's basically all that a ladder match is, climbing a ladder instead of a pole, but the visual "feel" of the match is different to me.

Can't wait until WWE shifts to PG-14 for the return of weapons matches.

LOL at you thinking of a "visual feel" to climbing on pole or poles....haha

Let's go overboard.

Three rings. Dual Elimination Chambers. Each chamber progresses as normal -- at the same time, mind you -- and when a winner from one chamber is declared, he is let into the center ring. Once two men are in the middle ring, you can have your "final match," and it would be a gimmick of it's own. Submissions only, ladder, inferno, "I Quit," cage, or whatever other thing they wanted to make it.

Obviously, winning your chamber well in advance of the other person is a perk -- time to rest. (It's also why I don't think ladder or cage matches are a good idea.)

That is a rather good idea actually. Bravo mate, bravo.

Since this year they made the Hell in the Cell cage higher than usual, it might be tall enough to do a ladder match or a tag team ladder match inside the cage itself.

Probably harder to create a Tag Team ladder match inside the cell since it would mean the WWE actually focusing and developing the tag team division to make people care.

lol remember this, from WCW and the Ready To Rumble movie?

It could happen. They've done a Steel Cage Ladder Match before in Japan, so anything is possible.

Seriously.

Get through knocking down 2 guys for 10 seconds.

How about a match, where the cage is made of glass?

I say bring back the War Games concept.

Also

Nexus vs WWE could be really cool inside the double cage.

Give somebody the "old-school" Steve Corino-esque gimmick. Have them win a midcard title (US belt right now, merely because of who has it) and have them INSIST to defend it in the classic blue cage every time. Good announcing would be the key to getting this over.

A pit match: Instead of a ring, which is elevated, you fight in a pit, as in a hole. I realise this would be a tough thing to do for the live audience, but you could have it be a see through pit, which is brought in a placed instead of the ring (or lowered on to it).

"But TroeLar," I hear you say, "wouldn't that just be a cage match with glass sides?".
Yes, yes it would. But with a few differences:
-First off, the sides would be slanted.
-I'm unsure if there would be ropes and corners as such, but there would probably
need to be.
-Victory conditions could be merely escaped - slanted sides making it a challenge.
Could also just be regular pinfall/submission.
-If you wanna go overboard, you could have a friggin tiger in there! Gladiator style...
Maybe not.

The biggest problem of course, is that the match probably wouldn't feel much like a "pit" match, since it doesn't seem to involve an actual pit as such. But "See through box with slanted sides match" doesn't sound marketable.

Anyway, the OP asked for matches they could use in the WWE. They could potentially use this one (excluding the tiger).

Ok, how about a Bangkok Death Match. You take two wrestlers, fly them into Bangkok. Then you strip them completely naked, blind them, push them out of the airplane and tell them that the first man to make it back to the USA is the winner.

Perfect. I think the Randy Savage-Jerry Lawler cage match in Memphis back in the 1980s was one.

A count out match. No pinning, DQs or submissions. To win, you have to have your opponent get counted out, either because they are KOed outside or because they just couldnt reach the ring before the count of 10.

Counts to 10 only begin when one wrestler is in the ring and the other wrestler is out. If the in ring wrestler leaves the ring, the count is stopped and restarted when he re-enters the ring.

The Double Edged Gauntlent.
Two teams in a gauntlet match, however it's a gauntlet for both teams.

I'm not sure what to call it, but the only way to win is submission or knock out.

Taker's final match should be a Creamation match. Loser gets thrown into the furnace and their ashes are added to the urn.

WWE doesn't have 60 guys to do it with though. :)

They could do a "one night" deal with a couple guys to round out the 60. Have everybody from the roster on both Smackdown and RAW participate, and round out the 60 with guys who come back for that event only.

But it won't happen.
