A team that didn't really need to exist IMO...
still unsure of exactly what they were trying to accomplish.

I hated it, to be honest. Austin shouldn't have turned heel, even though it was "fresh". If they wanted to turn Austin heel, then they should have had a suitable, well built new face to take over for him. Instead, they went with Taker/Kane, and that feud was meh.

I'm also never a fan of two guys teaming up after they beat the shit out of one another (let alone flip a car over from 30 feet in the air) just a few months prior. I just thought it was pretty lame, even though I did like the importance of the IC title during those few months since HHH and Kane were feuding over it.

Well personally i loved it. Also loved it when they beat the shit out of the rock.

It was just odd that WWE lost both their top faces in one night with Austin turning and Rock temporarily leaving.

That was the greatness of it though.

I just think it would have worked even better if there were fresh replacements for the two of them.

Well, Taker/Kane did well enough. Loved the chain match between HHH/Kane.

True, that match did rule. It was interesting though how it seemed like the main event scene was revolved around super tag-teams for a few months, since it was BOD, and then it was more than likely gonna be Benoit/Jericho.

I would have enjoyed to see how WWE would have handled there eventual split, but due to HHH's quad tear, we could have been robbed of a great storyline leading up to The Invasion, maybe even carrying into The Invasion (Austin & HHH turn on WWF)

I read that the projected ME for WM18 was Austin vs. HHH? It was more than likely a load of crap, but I thought that was interesting, which means the build would have lasted the entire year.

Yeah, one of the things I liked about that period was the emphasis on the tag teams. Undertaker/Kane, Jericho/Benoit, and even the Hardys got their chance to shine. Loved it when Jeff Hardy randomly beat Triple H for the IC title on an episode of SmackDown:

I thought they were brilliant, tbh.

Loved that 'winner take all' tag match at Backlash (i think). One of my favourite matches.

one of the very few times we got to see Triple H play second fiddle to somebody else

I wonder who's idea was it to form this stable? And I wonder if Trips was happy about the idea

One of the coolest angles in WWF history. I loved how they made tag team wrestling the main event and it didn't feel thrown together.
The whole gang warfare atmosphere was incredible.

It was. I was there- and I was super pissed that the main event was a tag team match.

As far as the angle went, I liked it. I thought they were entertaining, and was always left wondering when it would end. And then even with Angle added into it, it was fun to watch.

Having two of the top guys teaming and main eventing was cool. Plus it really elevated guys like Benoit and Jericho and as someone mentioned, Jeff Hardy.

Yea those three weeks or so were pretty cool. Then Triple Hamstring ripped his shit again and poof...enter the alliance. They used "Fight Song" By Marilyn manson and the video package was damn well done.

I think it was a great idea that got sidelined before it really got started. I was very much looking forward to a program between the Power Trip and Benoit/Jericho when Hunter got hurt. I'd love to see the WWE try something like this again, but maybe with the two guys trying to control the World, WWE and Tag Team titles instead of the WWE and IC Titles.

I will always wonder how that summer would have gone had Triple H not been injured. So many big power teams: Austin/Triple H, Brothers of Destruction, Benoit/Jericho. With The Hardys, Dudleyz and E&C still around, it would undoubtedly have been one of the best tag scenes ever. In addition, with the "Invasion" angle getting set to occur and The Rock's inevitable return, you have to wonder how the Power Trip would have ended/gone on and how the element of Triple H would have changed that five month WCW/ECW angle.

I would have liked to see The Rock and Angle as a power team. It would have made sense at that point and probably would have been pretty funny/great matches.

The whole thing definitely would have bought WWE some time to get the Invasion planned out better and bring in some bigger names

I really liked having HHH and Stone Cold together at the time. I was huge into HHH and liked the pairing while it lasted.

yea, the matches they got out of the angle were awesome. Thier feud against the Hardy's and then against Benoit/Jericho was top notch. They had all the belts suring this, right? Well World, Tag and IC.

I thought that team was an incredible idea and wished it had gone on just a bit longer...

I thought the Austin-HHH tag team was really good considering it only last about 2 months and is still so memorable. But Austin probably shouldn't have turned heel until joining the alliance, but you can't even say that since there seemed to be zero long term booking at that time.

One of the craziest heel angles I ever saw was when Austin beat up Lita with the steel chair.
