I stopped liking any one team when the Dodgers traded Piazza, so all my MLB passions revolve around Fantasy League. So I'm liking Barry Bonds (even though it makes me sick to even type that), Jeff Bagwell, Mariano Rivera, and Josh Beckett.

still sticking w/ my Sox v. Astros WS.
Wouldn't be shocked (and said this before the season started) to see Baltimore beat out the Yanks for the WC, the NYY just don't have the pitching this year, and w/ Giambi's drop off... That being said, Baltimore's in a hitters park, but I doubt they will all stay this hot... and I'm not sure if there pitching will hold up.
The Sox, front 4 look great, and then Pen looks the best I've seen in a long time. and heck, there winning w/o Nomar and Trot.

Its only a matter of time before the Yankees get some nasty pitcher threw a trade..
Way too early to predict something like the Yanks not making the playoffs

Never to early to make a prediction, when you predict you take what you have in hand.
Look forward, (injuries aside) the Yanks don't have the farm system they once did, and they really don't have anyone on the team, that's very "tradeable" I'm not saying they don't have talent, but few teams could take a contract of Jeter, Arod, Giambi, Brown, Medoza, Williams which would be their top talent. Vazquez could have some value, because his contract isn't huge and he's young, but I tend to think, if they're looking to deal him it's because he's not perfoming, which would hurt his value.
I don't know if the Oriales will hold on, I think they have some guys that will drop after the all-star break...
The more the Sox win, w/o Nomar and Trot the better they will be when they come back, I mean, I doubt the yanks will get someone in a trade equal to nomar. which means we have guys coming off the IR that cost us nothing in trade, that are better then what the Yanks would get via trade.
The real question is, the O's are showing willingness to spend money, so... who could they get via trade at the deadline?
Anyone have a list of next seasons free agents?

I heard back during the A-Rod deal that the Yanks could go after Randy Johnson during the summer.

With the way the D Backs are playing right now, I wouldn't be surprised if he got traded.

Yeah, and I think Milwood pitches against Beckett tomorrow. Nice.
As for the Yankees, so many of the divisions are going to be competitive that front line pitching isn't going to be readily available. They're waiting on Jon Lieber; not sure if that's a huge help. The big problem is that Contreras has been a bust. If they manage a trade for astarter, it's going to be a relatively unknown, mediocre player ( Kip Wells, Scoot Elarton ) or a well known starter on the downside of their career (Tom Glavine, Shawn Estes ). Either way, if they make the playoffs, they'll go Brown, Mussina, Vasquez and that's still dangerous.

Yeah, and my Phillies are getting their asses destroyed so far. We need to find a leadoff hitter. But everyone should know that it is way early in the season. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
