He may be on the roster now or not, but who do you think will be the next "Cena" so to speak, the recipient of the mega push, the next franchise player?
Is there anyone in FCW who has the potential?

Mason Ryan will probably be pushed as the next Batista.

I think Cena is a special case. He's one of those guys that gets pushed like that once every "era." In the 80's it was Hogan, in the 90's it was Bret to a lesser extent, and today it's Cena. No one on that roster is as protected as Cena is. If he loses it's never clean and he always gets his redemption whether on the mic or in the ring.
Plus he handles it well. You might not like him in the ring, but he enjoys what he does, appreciates the fans, and is the perfect poster boy for the WWE. No one else has the charisma or likability to match.

I just tell people he's the new Hulk Hogan, and people understand in a heartbeat.

When you look for "the next HBK", or "the next Rock", or "the next Stone Cold", or, as the topic says, "the next Cena", you set yourself up for disappointment, because you are comparing wrestlers who come in, to established stars, to guys who made it.
So when u are looking for "the next (whoever)", and u don't find him, u automatically say "Ah! The wrestling of today sucks. I wish the Attitude Era would come back. I wish Kane would go back to using a mask and wig. And I hope Goldberg comes back, so he can team with Sting, and wrestle The Rock and Austin at WrestleMania 27".

I don't mean it that way, I'm just basically implying it as a "franchise" or "poster boy" etc etc

In that sense...no one really comes to my mind as somebody who can become so big. Miz maybe?

I see Miz like Triple H
Triple H is a big name and all, but he never really was categoraized as "the franchise" or "poster boy" for WWE.
Austin was. Rock was. And to a lesser extent The Undertaker. And of course John Cena.
I think what you have to consider is the crossover appeal as well

Undertaker never was the "Poster Boy" for WWE. Neither was Triple H, but like u said, I think it was all due to crossover appeal. Not even HBK could crossover completely (very little, only Pacific Blue and Baywatch).
But Miz comes from the mainstream, he comes from "the other side", so he has the personality, the look, the personality, and the connections, to cross over. If he becomes WWE Champion, more doors will open for him, he will have more exposure (so will the WWE), because of his story, the fact he was a reality tv star (so for sure he knows people in the mainstream), etc.

Unless Cena has a kid that becomes a wrestler/entertainer, there will never be another Cena.
As far as who the next mega huge superstar will be? I have no idea. They may not even be signed by WWE yet. It could really by anybody, but The Miz is a likely candidate at this point for current superstars on the main roster or FCW.

I can't stand the thought of there being only one Cena for right now...
I don't want to think about there eventually being another one...
One "superstar" with no wrestling talent being shoved down our throats is enough for a lifetime...we don't need another one.

I don't think people really understand what someone means when they say "the next so-and-so." I could see The Miz being the next Rock, to be honest. Someone that never really changes their personality, but somehow is embraced by the fans and becomes "the most entertaining" guy in the company and does big public appearances and is the "celebrity" of the WWE.
Mason Ryan is probably the only guy I can really see getting that massive push as a "Superman" in the WWE. There could be someone else, but I think they will come out of left-field.

I just mean The Miz as the "next" in the sense that I think he'll be the next guy to be packaged as a top guy.
He's got everything they look for. I've read reports that he busts his ass to be a model employee like Cena did and does, and Vince is very high on him.
He's also constantly doing other media events to promote WWE, and is the type of guy WWE wants representing them.
On top of that, he's gaining a lot of popularity and momentum on the actual product, with all different types of fans. Regardless of what people say about Cena now, he was doing the same in 2003-04.
I wouldn't be suprised to see The Miz really packaged as a bigger star, and the IWC will cry foul when their new favorite is turned face and "watered down."
On the flip side there are superstars who will most likely never be duplicated i.e. The Undertaker

Mason Ryan will defo be pushed as a monster heel or face but idk if he's going to be Cena's level.

For those who don't what Mason Ryan looks like.
I agree that The Miz is WWE's next big thing. He's been their most over mid carder for almost a year, has helped get an indy unknown in Danielson over, and is still more tan young and new enough to the business to get even bigger and better.

I could see Ezekiel Jackson getting a massive push, too. Although maybe not to Cena levels.

As much as I like him a can never see The Miz being the face of the company but with him being possibly one of their biggest heels and due to his size I could see Justin Gabriel getting a monster push.

You can't see Miz becoming the face of the company, but you CAN see Justin Gabriel doing so?
You're crazy.

It's tough to say right now. Other than Cena and Orton, I don't think the WWE has anyone that can legitimately be considered worthy of being the 'face' of the company. CM Punk is probably the closest thing. Taker is too old and broken down, Triple H has been around for too long, and everyone else is either too green or sucks as a face.
About 5-6 years ago, I thought the WWE had something special with Daniel Puder..the winner of Tough Enough 04'. Puder had that 'MMA' background and I think the fans would have really gotten behind him. If the WWE kept Shelton Benajmin as is, and let his wrestling speak for itself, I also think he would have been another guy that could've been huge. Santino Marella could have and should have been known as one of the greatest heels of all-time by now, but the WWE completely ruined him. Orton is another guy that could have been much bigger..although he's getting decent pops.
Long story short - I don't think the WWE really has anyone on the horizon. Jeff Hardy could have been the guy, but he had too many personal problems.

Truthfully, we can't know. It's likely someone we don't know... or may not have even broken into the business yet, kinda like Edge watching Mick Foley wrestle, or Mick Foley watching the Funker wrestle...
Even WWE likely doesn't know. Again, remember Cena and Orton's initial pushes were "experiments". *They* weren't even sure they wanted him to main event, let alone pictured him being the face of the company. Honestly, when he debuted, did you really say to yourself "I can see this John Cena fellow getting overexposed and becoming a cash cow". The truthful answer is absolutely not. You would have thought he may have got a couple of matches on Heat, then been future endeavored.
Conversely, most of all of the "sure things" somehow fall off the map. Sean O'Haire? Mohammed Hassan? Shelton Benjamin?
Exactly.

Two of those last three names bring tears to my eyes.
And yea, I don't think WWE themselves knows who's going to be there next guy. Every now and then, you have your special ones, like Lesnar, that roll through and you just know they have it.
But I think the next guy is going to come along much like Austin or Triple H did, in that they're brought in as solid mid card talent and somehow find a way to not only connect with the fans, but also elevate themselves to the level both men have achieved.
