If one of you lovely tech people would like to point me in the direction of the best/safest/free anti-virus, I will send you over some lovely rep points and a signed picture (optional)

Merci. I have a 60 day Norton trial and then I'll switch to Avast (missus has it, seems alright) Got Malwarebytes and Spybot too. Picture is in the mail.

Also not sure if anyone would suggest this, but its worked wonders for me.

Unlocker

It allows deletion of those annoying cannot be deleted/cannot be renamed/etc files you usually find with fake torrents.

I use Spybot then Super Anti-Spyware and by the time I run Malware Bytes nothing is left to be detected and doesn't take that long for me.

Jesus fucking christ. What fucking rock are you morons living under?
The best free antivirus is Avira. And it has been for at least a year now.

Also, you'll never get spyware if you use a good browser with ad blocking, a good up to date antivirus, and a PC immunized by Spybot.
