AJ has done it since he started in TNA. Maybe even in WCW, WWE probably told Crash to do it just like Billy Gunn did it a couple of times to make it seem that when people saw Styles do it that it was from WWE.

That's why the WWE is so inconsistent.

When a Styles Clash is botched it's the guy receiving the move that fucks up by not putting his head back
They take it like a Piledriver.
That botch was first time I ever saw the Styles Clash by AJ years ago. I thought it was a Piledriver variation and said how ridiculously dangerous it is.

This. I'll wait for Fignuts or WWKD to confirm it

Diamond Dallas Page was the innovator of the Styles Clash. The only difference is he doesn't do the roll over to a pin.

I have a friend that's been in hospital since November last year that will tell you differently.
Bullshit. Dr. Perfect is never wrong.

In that specific AJ Styles video he was holding Kazarian way too low, doesn't matter which way Kazarian moved his head he would have landed hard on his neck since he didnt have the room to rotate. Totally AJ's fault there.

I remember watching that match on PPV back in 2003. That was a brutal botch.
Holy shit, one of the 8 people who ordered the PPVs.

I was just about to say, Col DeBeers used to do it in the AWA.
I remember Outlaw Ron Bass used the Pedigree in the late 80's. Weird how wrestlers you wouldn't imagine coming up with a move doing it.

Looking back at the old matches, you're right. I had to double check, just in case.

The Styles Clash doesn't even look painful. Except when it's botched. But when it's natural it doesn't look that devastating at all.

I'm of the opinion that it's a horrible finisher. It's not even that it doesn't look devestating, which it doesn't, but it also has no impact.
A finisher like the frog splash or the FU, or Rock Bottom or even a Hogan leg drop doesn't really seem any more devestating than an average move. They have a lot of impact though. They are just big moves.
The Styles Clash is pretty lame.

Dunno, I always liked the Styles Clash. Pretty unique finisher and I think it looks good. The only problem is the setup. I hate it when he telegraphs it. Much much better when he smoothly transitions into it from some other position.
