discuss...also lets not just throw rocks at fox news, we all know they suck.

Like I said on the escapist, Fox might be the most extreme example, but nobody else was really doing much different. So it's kind of unfair to pick on Fox News when everyone else was out to crucify these games.
James and Daniel are right to an extent, though. Any legit defense they had was more or less taken away by the admission that they'd lost support from their own publisher. The publisher did, effectively, admit they were wrong, which destroyed any credibility.

It was just another dumb shooter, this time based on something real and recent. So I don't think this game would have revolutionized anything. It did more good by dying young than it would have if it made it all the way to the store shelves. Now games as art people have something to bitch about.

It was still a shooter that could have served as an interesting look into an "ongoing conflict."
We embed reporters, we show the troops' triumphs, but this was as close as you could come to being in the shoes of these guys.
While I agree it wouldn't have sold well, I think the experience would have been worth it.

maybe, I don't know. I but dying young with so much potential helps causes more than not living up to the hype.

Sounds like it was narrated by a pre-pubescent Jesse Eisenberg

What hype? Your own argument hinges on its lack of hype.

Before you damage it by contradicting yourself?
Anyway, I Think that the idea that we can only either be a mature medium or a child's toy is dumb.
I mean, suppose we held Satruday Morning Cartoons to the same standard as slasher flicks?
Should Porky's really fuck up Citizen Kane's rep as art?
Should Star Wars be any less of a technical achievement because of Epic Movie?
By the same merit, there are few games I would consider art, but Shadows of the Collossus shouldn't suffer because of Rapelay or whatever. Several games, while not masterpieces, are worthy of at least taking a place alongside cinema. Mass Effect and Red Dead Redemption are worthy as cinematic experiences, even if they are not the epitome of artistic expression and even if they are shooters.
Though I appreciate EC more because it provokes thought, more than that I agree with them.

Jane Austen does ruin Danielle Steele's artistic credibility, or do I mean it the other way around...no, the first way.

But that lady was still being very civil and she was just conflicted on if she wanted her son in a game like that.
