Breaking News: TNA Fires Sabu
By Ryan Clark on Sunday, November 7th, 2010 at 4:23 PM EST
We noted several days ago on our TNA-only website, TNAWrestlingNews.com, that Sabu was informed by TNA Wrestling officials that the company would cease to utilize him following Turning Point tonight.
According to the original TNAWrestlingNews.com report (VIEW IT HERE), Terry Taylor called Sabu and told him that he was being “let go” from TNA following tonight’s PPV. Taylor said that creative had “nothing for him”, therefore they were letting him go. According to their report, Sabu was not happy with this at all. He says he’ll still be appearing at tonight’s PPV, but is very unhappy about this situation.
The wrestling veteran will be competing in the match between EV 2.0 and Fortune, which features a stipulation where the winning team is permitted to fire a member of the losing team. It is unknown at this time whether his departure will tie into the storyline.
Officials originally intended to conclude the feud between the two factions last month at Bound for Glory, but ultimately decided to string it through Turning Point or this week’s set of iMPACT! tapings.
It should be noted that as of several weeks ago, Rhino’s TNA contract had been set to expire as well.

I think this decision is pretty unthoughtful.
Sabu is easily the most marketable guy in the EV2.0 stable, not counting Rob Van Dam.
I am sure TNA won`t lose anything by no longer using Sabu, but I damn well believe Sabu could be an asset to TNA. A far greater asset than than say Eric Young, Jesse Neal, Magnus, Orlando Jordan, Rhino, Rob Terry, Shannon Moore, Stevie Richards and the list could go continue on & on...

Someone should make a TNA Pink Slip Pool. :shifty:
Everyone who participates would win, where's the win there?

I've always found Sabu to be overated to be honest.
I'm sure other promotions will be eager to give him a chance to break his neck for the 89th time.

Overated how? (I'm just curious)
He's not technical or tactiful or purposeful, but the ECW build-up of the Sabu character absolutely justifies the hardcore high-flying reckless style. You never know what kind of chaos you will see in a Sabu match and that appeals to some and probably does not appeal to others.

Meh, I like Rhino the best from that stable.

2 down, just a few more to go. Let Tommy be an agent though.

No specific reason to be honest, just never cared for him. He has had some good matches, and I'm not totally against hardcore wrestling (though don't get me wrong, I'm certainly no fan of all that deathmatch nonsense), but Sabu just never really appealed to me.

Out of EV2.0, I think Tommy Dreamer, Raven, and Stevie Richards should stay.
Tommy and Raven can be agents and/or bookers.
and
Stevie can wrestle, train youngsters, and help TNA with their technology.

Would be cool...
Sabu is over the hill and around the corner. Maybe this will make room for some home grown TNA talent to step up.
Nah.

I like Sabu a lot. I just hate the way he looks with a shaved head. He needs to grow his hair back.

Isn't he pretty much bald on top? Don't think he'll look good with a Heyman esque skullet.
I always liked Sabu. He's had some great matches.

That is fair enough.
I agree that "deathmatches" like in CZW are ridiculous. A bunch of skinny amateurs breaking light tubes over their bodies and mowing each other down is just retarded.
Stevie can wrestle, train youngsters, and help TNA with their technology.
lol what
If they are keeping the ECW stable, I dont know why they are releasing him. Not that I like him, because he is utter shit, but it doesnt make sense.

Outside of wrestling, Stevie Richards is a Chief Technology Evangelist for a company called PhoneFusion to help with updating and upgrading Mobile and Cell phones. Plus, he also has a website of his podcasts dealing with new technology.

They should fire 90% of EV2.0

Yeah so apart from getting RVD discounts on mobile phones how is that any benefit to TNA?

He could work on TNA's Mobile technology, whenever it needs to be updated and upgraded.

I am sure Steven Richards would love to take over TNA Mobile's infrastructure.

Ahahahaha, you are so cute.
Using that analogy, Glenn Jacobs could teach the WWE locker room some English literature when needed.

 Sixx saying that just reminds me how almost every week on Raw during the Attitude Era they used to mention how D'Lo Brown was a qualified accountant, for no reason at all.

Stevie not only doesn't look aged but he can still wrestle. So I'd keep him active while having Rhino, Dreamer, and Raven stay backstage as agents. They could even keep Rhino on the roster if they have something for him.
They should fire 90% of EV2.0
Y'know that makes no sense. Given that there aren't 10 members of EV2.0 and all. Or are you proposing to keep the top half of one of the guys and get rid of the rest?

There HAS to be something for Raven to do other than look bloated and stink up the ring.

Raven's promos are still good to this day, maybe he should be the one who betrays EV2.0 and become Jeff Hardy's manager.
That could work I guess.
I still think Immortal just looks weird as a faction and adding Raven wouldn't help that. He definately needs to get out of the ring but having seen him as the leader of Seritonin, I'm not sure a manager role is right.
James Steele

I think Raven as Jeff Hardy's manager would be a perfect fit, but it doesn't fit at all with the "Immoral" stable.

If any promising superstars want to also take college courses and he can help with their English classes.
