View Full Version : Why did they drop the Mattitude gimmick?

It was probably the most over thing in WWE for a while. I'm guessing people thought Matt was a chump after the whole Lita/Edge thing?

Did they get rid of Mattitude because it was so over? When did Mattitude die out? I recall Shannon Moore and Crash Holly being MFers

v1ah was probably the peak of Matt Hardy's career. Again, this was part of the great Smackdown Six era that dominated WWE at the time

What are some memorable Mattitude facts that you remember?

He went to RAW and started to feud with Kane over Lita or something. Then he got injured and fired.

Ah yes, moving from one show another is sometimes a curse.

Memorable mattitude moment... running into Jeff Hardy at a PPV probably.

Well Shannon Moore was an MF'er, while Crash was a Moore-On.

I did enjoy the whole Mattitude thing though. It was the highest point of his singles career by far, but apparently he asked for it to end as he wanted to travel and work with Lita who just returned from an injury and was on the Raw Brand.

So he was drafted to Raw while Moore and Crash stayed on SmackDown, thus disbanding the group and ending Mattitude.

Fuck sake Naitch, any chance you could check wiki BEFORE starting another thread...

Having now dubbed himself "Matt Hardy: Version 1", and with his MF'er (Mattitude Follower) Shannon Moore in his corner, 2003 began with Hardy frantically trying to lose weight to get under the 220 lb (100 kg) weight limit to compete for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. After just barely making weight, Hardy defeated Billy Kidman at No Way Out to win the Cruiserweight title. At WrestleMania XIX, he successfully defended it against Rey Mysterio. The Mattitude faction then expanded to include Crash Holly as Moore's "Moore-on" (follower). He later disbanded the group and returned to Raw in order to be able to travel and work with his then girlfriend Lita, who just returned from an injury. On his first night back, he turned on Lita in storyline after teasing a proposal to her. Hardy spent little time on Raw and later turned into a fan favorite by engaging in a rivalry with Kane. Lita was also involved in the storyline, and Hardy took time off after a chokeslam from Kane off the stage during Lita and Kane's wedding. This time off was due to a knee injury.

Matt Hardy would have a hard time making a 320 pound limit.

Jumping brands is suicide for everyone.

Not really. Maybe for midcarders going from Smackdown to Raw. That's just because there's a deeper roster, usually.

But otherwise, it's really not suicide. Main eventers seem to maintain their level. Sometimes going to Raw can propel them.
And more often than not, jumping from Raw to Smackdown results in a bigger push.

Edge to Smackdown
CM Punk to Smackdown
Cena to Raw
Sheamus to Raw
Jeff Hardy to Smackdown

Just a few off the top of my head

After feeding that kangaroo Trips got up looked at it with disgust and gave it two thumbs down. Batista then killed it with a Batista Bomb.
