Overall, I was a little let down. Not enough involvement with the WWF Superstars. I was hoping for a tag match, gimmick battle royal, Tatanka vs someone, etc.

Really wish that Vince would have called a significant portion of the show.

Too bad that there were no surprise appearances by WWF Superstars that we haven't seen in years and wouldn't expect to see. Although, it was cool to see Slick and Harvey Whippleman - didn't expect that.

First, let me start off by saying that I haven't watched any WWE/TNA wrestling in several months, not even really following what was going on through site results, spoilers or forums. Needless to say, I was a pretty oblivious to the current storylines and almost forgot about the 3 hour "Old School" RAW tonight and missed the first hour and a half.

That being said, what I saw tonight I loved. It felt like I was watching an entirely different show. The old RAW set/format was awesome. Something about the show just felt more organic and real, not sterile and scripted like the past several years RAW's typically do.

JR on commentary was great. It just shows how bad of a job Michael Cole does when comparing JR to Cole in the same night. King wasn't terrible either, especially when teaming with JR. They have some great chemistry announcing.

Some of the matches I saw were a little boring to me, but not bad any stretch and they made up for it relatively quickly in the next segment or the post match action/segments. Really loved the Rhodes/DiBiase family backstage segments and the Mae Young/Simply Flawless segment. SLUTS AND BITCHES! In the words of Michael Cole, VINTAGE RAW, and I loved it.

Pardon the pun, but I felt like they brought the edge and ATTITUDE back, at least for the night. Once I started watching, I was hooked. I didn't know what they were going to do next and I didn't want to miss anything. Just like old times.

It also worked a bit better than it would for anyone else because he did used to kind of "pause" a bit and thouroughly annunciate when reading those copies. The Paper Jamz one sounded a bit less clean, but "A" for effort by WWE to keep it authentic.

that is a suprise i know vinces stick it is all about the money, but wwe has there raw retro night, at the main event pipers pit there is a wcw shirt.

Kind of wish they would've been able to get The Rock to make a cameo (totally thought it was coming when Tony Atlas started going on about his dad) or even tape something like they did for the SmackDown 10th Anniversary, but it was still a great night. Just a lot of fun, and the guys they gave more time to delivered. Piper did an amazing job really selling the Survivor Series main event.

Other random thoughts: the format was great and really made 3 hours seem like 1 hour, loved Chavo giving a shout out to Eddie when they were giving all the legends on last hand, Alberto Del Rio continues to be the goods, the Bryan/Swagger match was great, love the storyline progression through the night (Orton/Cena meeting early, then again late; DiBiase handing back the Million Dollar belt and saying he wants something of his own before taking out Bryan, etc.).

Also, Lay Cool remains awesome.

I am pretty damn stoked for Survivor Series after last night, and I really am wondering how they will do this whole Barrett/Orton/Cena/ and potentially Miz thing.

Interesting thing I read on liveaudiowrestling.com

"I was absolutely floored that the name ‘Mel Phillips' was used on a WWE broadcast, not sure if that was an implied joke from Vince McMahon in the headset or Cole just made the reference to throw to Justin Roberts. For those unaware Phillips was a north east based announcer for the company in the 70's and 80's and left the company amidst allegations of propositioning young ring boys, who were working for the company in a major scandal for the company in 1992 that also involved then executive Terry Garvin and Pat Patterson with all three leaving the company but Patterson was brought back and McMahon has always maintained Patterson was a victim of the allegations because he was a homosexual and Garvin and Phillips were the culprits."

I really liked the look of the interview "platform" at the side of the ramp. Looks real good in HD. They should bring it back full time.
